For shawbury that's the highest gust I`ve seen on XC map 76mph and its low ground, its reached higher in the past I expect before the internet came out.Its hurricane force at aberaron.

Quite something to mean 48mph for lowland Midlands

Just past 3 gritters on way home , surely too windy for frost so snow ????

Winds moderating after midnight enough for ice to form

Biggest gusts of the day here so far, no doubt about it.

Something just went BANG outside, but I'm too scared to poke my head out the front door to see what it was! Posted Image

Seems very calm here, totally underwhelmed by the winds so far. Oh and tonight's models are crap, looking mild and zonal virtually across the board.

Not quite as severe as the gale on Dec' 5th here with a max' gust of 78 mph so far.

The  mean speed was  51 mph at 1800.

The Mother's just text me to say she's just had to give way to a Wheelie-bin crossing the road. Chaos.

Well I always picture it in my head similar to ducks crossing... so I suppose below is how I see it in my mind. (My poor attempt Photoshop attempt in bottom-half)

Crazy afternoon, lots of trees down and the river is rising again. Luckily we kept our power, the village 2 miles up the road is out as is part of town.

Last time I remember wind speeds approaching this at Shawbury was 20th March 2004, but there was no rain with that one.

I was just looking at that no that was less it was a severe gale though even down your was 50 gusted to 70mph I`ve noted down here, today`s was far more severe here,Jan 2007 todays was the most severe since then as it didn`t last as long.

No damage to any trees in march 2004,I remember it well though as I was standing out in it.

I think the worst time for the wind here was the afternoon, it seems calmer this evening. I think we have been lucky with the river Avon given how many rivers have flooded.

Well, I think that's it for us tonight campers. Phew!

I notice I've got light snow forecast for 6 - 8 am tomorrow, I wonder if that will actually happen....?

Would be grateful for even a few flakes this winter.

Snow/rain shower here at the moment. Not really sleet as switching from just rain to just very large flakes of snow and back again. It's either one or the other, not both at the same time!

Underwhelming, winds were at there worst around 4-5. We never get the 'worst' of anything in the MIdlands, which on 1 hand is very good and on the other is very boring.
