Wow heavy rain in Brum city centre suddenly turned to snow! The cold air must have mixed in very quickly . It's almost blizzard like now! :)

see my post on previous page!!did mention there some really heavy heavy precipitation west of Birmingham!!keep us updated here in in leicester!!

Sky lightening here, rain has eased off. Any sleet/snow didn't stick. Temp now 2.1oC, dewpoint 1.4oC. Visibility's improved dramatically, can make out snow on the Welsh mountains.

Massive flakes the forecasters didn't predict this until tonight, love surprise snowfalls.

Snowing here since 09:30, slushy lane outside the house and settling on the fields. 1.9 c, 5 mph wind.

Heavy snow here for the past 10-15 minutes, surfaces were soaked but snow has had no problem sticking.

 

Already a covering on both roads and pavements.

bbc didnt predict it, still doesn't, GFS were going for back edge snow, but not on the last few runs

I suspect this is due to evap cooling in the heavier downpours?

Calmed down a bit now, falling steady with big flakes. Rain today shows could continue until about 12:30 here.
