My stab at a bit of weather poetry (no laughing!)

Snow no-go, Low after low

The rain is a pain, overflowing drains

Floods and gales, Broken rails

It will dry up soon (probably June!)

Wettest in years, so we hear

Models depressing, patience testing

Roll on summer, winters a bummer!

Stay safe all, this pattern has got to break soon.....I have faith!!! (Or a stubborness to accept defeat!)

Hi Iceni, problem is a hedge will just let my terrible terrier right through it. Otherwise I totally agree with you! I think a hedge and a fence is an option. Sadly i have a mutt that thinks he is the only canine that should be allowed to roam this earth!! He is also such a stupid mutt that he will go out in any weather including torrential rain and even enjoys watching fireworks! A true devil dog! LOL. He was a rescued stray and it has taken us 2 years to tame him but the best thing is he loves stormy weather as much as I do.

And just to pacify the mods,..... Posted Image   the wind here is getting much gustier  and we are now getting light rain.

We have the same problem with our Border terrier. Solution is either one of those collars which shocks them (don't like that) or just wire fencing off a small portion of the garden. It's what I'm going to do this Spring. By next year the hedge will have grown through and will hide the wire.

We have 3 doors - 2 at the front and 1 side, through which he'll try to escape every time someone calls. The garden door doesn't matter much as he sticks with me and the other dog if we're off for a walk down the garden and onto the track.

If just that little bit of the garden is wired off, I can catch him before he does his great escape act. Remember 2010? He got out after a lady dog in season in the village (a Rottweiler) and came back at 4 am with long icicles hanging from his whiskers.

On topic - it's raining - quelle surprise.

My poem called Mounts Bay. Posted Image

Twas was a leaden evening on Mounts Bay
The wind was howling and the sea was grey
Birds were battling against the elements
Despite their frantic movement of eloquence
The trees were swaying as if they were conveying
A message of hope but rather of praying
The sea came crashing against the rocks
There was no time to save the docks
The surge came closer towards the town
A chilling threat portrayed a drown
The waves came barrelling from the east
It claimed a life, it was a beast
Shops were ransacked through and through
Whilst Mother Nature's plans were drew
The sea receded and help was needed
But the ocean proved it was unimpeded
The town was gone and community lost
The devastation left the air embossed.
No one was sure what happened that day
On that fateful day at Mounts Bay.

I didn't think that Daily Mirror readers would have difficulty finding their own country on a map, now if it was the Express or Mail I'd have realised straight away what it was for !

Daily Mirror readers don't agree with having their own country. They're international socialists.

Hi Callie

Certainly wasn't expecting it this bad so soon.......and still confuddled  about why my flood warning has been rescinded given the current amount of rain....unless they're expecting it to be blown away before it lands LOL

Will be trying to salvage what's left of tonight's sleep  on the sofa bed downstairs......xxx

Think the worst is yet to come definately as I stand at the bus. Stop few gusts yeah not overly strong clouds have parted showing a few stars just as a few gusts get a touch stronger but not too bad waiting for the bus

Thank you guys for the kind words yesterday. Was a tad breezy in the night and still is actually. Think the max gust here was 47 mph so far matching Met O predictions.

Morning all. Posted Image

I've just looked at the shipping forecast. Jeez! Posted Image

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/marine/shipping_forecast.html#All~All

Sea states 'high', or 'very high' all the way along the South Coast today and up to 'phenomenal' in the south west. Thank God the high tides this weekend are neap ones now, as these sea states are predicted to be worse than anything in the last week.

Edit. And this is what it means:

Morning all, hopefully today's the day when I will see some football at Charlton (I know I heard all the jokes about lack of )football and Charlton especially our residence comedian Jim Davidson one and only joke, I thought Charlton was called Charlton nil, last few games been rained off Yamkins posts worried about about them rising the Thames barrier as that increase the height of the water table and could put the game at risk, don't they understand that my game of football is more important than saving London from flooding.

I must admit to never getting poetry and after reading some of your efforts last night, I see I'm not the only one :-). Only joking as I don't think I have ever liked so many posts. You lot are talented, but unfortunately I'm not. Whilst reading all verse something did pop into my head which was a modification of an old play on words, but then I forgot it, flipping old age, oh yea "I'm a poet and I don't know it" eventually I got there, and you are correct it wasn't worth it.

Slept through last nights fun, opened the curtains and its wet out, not to blowy but, the sky has that's look off being the end of the world look, truly looks black and yuk. Have a nice day everyone, looks like her indoors is as she swanning about in bed, think I might have to have word, it ain't right that I got to get my own coffee is it?

Well that's a surprise lovely blue sky spreading in from London direction, so in the last hour we gone from the end of the world to a beautiful sunny day, funny old weather ain't it.

I've just had a look. I noted the ridiculous post, where someone has taken the sea level pressure of the current low and applied it to the scale used for estimating hurricane strength. Posted Image

The poster has already been shot down in flames though, so no need to add any more. Posted Image
