Bognor Cam  with sound lol http://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live

Pathetic though it may sound I often have that link running, just for the sound alone. I have a real affinity with the sea and when I lost my job last year through health problems there was a real possibility of me moving to Hastings. Unfortunately it fell to dust and I'm now faced with the prospect of being shunted into an inner London Borough. Chalk and cheese. Posted Image

Enough of my moaning. I hope all of you who are unwell get better soon and fingers crossed for those in flood prone areas.

On a positive note it's a bright and mostly sunny day here in the outer suburbs and almost spring-like. Get out and about and enjoy it if you're able folks. Posted Image

I watched them too..can't believe how fast moving they are! I bet a lot of people on the banks of the river there will be getting nervous.Does anyone know what the river running right through the centre of Canterbury looks like at the moment? If you're local you'll know what one I mean...under the main High Street where Pizza Express overlooks it and the witch dunking chair is?

Yes

It's very high, it's close to reaching the lower doors and above the walkway towards the witches dunking stool!

Never seen it so bad

Lovely and sunny in MK but we can't go out as still waiting for a freezer to be delivered - dinner is cooking itself though (well there is a beef casserole in the oven ) Feels spring like here too :-) Edited by MKsnowangel

I remember that, I think it's the most snow I've ever seen falling in one night. Was in croydon then.

If that freezer is coming in a van from an easterly direction, it could possibly arrive next winter Posted Image

It's arrived .....unlike winter !

Not complaining though we can go out now and enjoy some fresh air and the casserole will be ready when we get back :-)

Afternoon all

temperature peaked in Reigate at a rather lovely 10.2c around lunchtime.  A wall across the saturated Reigate Heath this morning with 2 youngest children, father and dog, felt like an early spring day, some shrubs had nascent buds and the sun carried a hint of proper warmth on the face.  Plenty of flooding around even on chalky fast draining ground but the kids regressed a few years and splashed around giggling.  Footie yesterday, fish and chips to follow, 3 generations of the family on the squash court on Friday, my father's first go, at the age of 78, playing my youngest who's 10, whilst I thrashed around on the next court.  Bought him a new cricket bat (son, not father) and thought about the summer.

Hope those struck down by lurgy feel better soon!

What a lovely sun treat, and a mild 11.5 c. Straight out in the garden to pot up my many cuttings from Last summer, get some more sweet pea seeds on the go and a good old tidy-up. Onto Getting the lamb in the oven :-)

There's still time according to this weather forecaster.

6 "more" weeks of winter.  (Not sure more is very apt here though.)

Today is Candlemas Day and folklore suggests "if its fair and bright winter will have another fight". For the uninitiated Candlemas Day is the Christian commemoration of the presentation of Jesus in the Temple at Jerusalem and the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary as ordained in the Jewish Law (Torah) by Yahweh the God of Israel in Leviticus 12.

It is known in the States as Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil has indeed popped out of his burrow this Sunday morning, predicting six more weeks of Winter - ie. rain and gales!

http://www.usatoday....y-phil/5101379/

Today we are halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox ie. Midwinter. It also coincides with Imbolic the ancient Pagan Festival.

If Candlemas Day be fair and bright
Winter will have another fight.
If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain,
Winter won't come again.

If Candlemas Day be dry and fair,
The half o the winter's to come and mair;
If Candlemas Day be wet and foul,
The half o the winter's gane at Yule.

It reminds me of when I used to go skiing in western Canada, in the late 90's; I'd inevitably be there in early February. There was a groundhog called Wiarton Willie, who seemed to make the news each year and was disturbed for some ceremony. Poor thing! Posted Image

What is the lead time between a warming at the 10mb level and potential tropospheric impacts?

hers the fax charts for wednesday

last nights one

this mornings one

now the current updated one

note the low is slowly being tracked more north

which is good re the wind

however the block to our east is further west again

so that will not help with the isobars still being able to tighten up

i would say 60 mph winds as shown

problem is i need the other fax after to see where it ends up

i still think these will amend right up to tomorrow night

either way still not looking great

Meet Holmes & Watson the Goldfish, the new additions to the household.

Trouble is, there are three cats here. I'm half expecting them to be sitting around clutching knives and forks with napkins tied around their necks. :D

It's been a lovely, sunny day here. Now it's a clear sky and no rain or wind. Weird.

Edit,,,,,they are Mollies not Goldfish.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
