Just looking at some photos of my old home town and this one caught my eye ......

post-10773-0-31113200-1391201646_thumb.j

.....there is no date for it but I'm guessing early 1900's ?

This  also - "A forrowlly good read I'd recommend, I couldnt put it down meself and forgot I was running me barf water and suffered dire consekwences, cos me 'ouse is flooded out now, ain I silly!" - (Janet Street-Porter, Evening Standard).

Apologies to Iceni of course, who no doubt sounds nothing like Miss Street-Porter.

Where's that lawyer fella again, when you need him, Martyn/AS help!

Yours pleadingly,
Tomasino.

You bet your sweet bippy I don't sound like JSP!

I sound more like Joanna Lumley with the looks of a slightly less haggard Kate Moss - people say I'm a little like Jean Shrimpton too, when she was much younger... see below. It's because I've led a very pure life.

Everyone falls instantly in love with me - it's a real problem.... at least 6 stalkers are outside in the cold and wet right now. hoping they see me put the kettle on for a coffee (or even, gasp, run another bath) I never draw the curtains as they'd commit suicide if they don't catch a glimpse of me every day and it would be too cruel.

As for Martyn, I've booked him first to pursue my case against you, young Tomasino. The letter detailing my law suit is in the post.

Agreed, that Tamara's pretty good at the wevver. Not quite as attractive as me though, but you can't have everything. Posted Image

just trying to work out which town that was, they seem to have cleared the paths better than the road although I suppose when that picture was taken the paths were used more than the roads.

it looks mainly dry barring the odd pm shower to the north of the region

Posted Image

in theory these look cold

however there look likely a lot of cloud so somewhere around 6-8 degrees

mist likely as it starts getting dark

Posted Image

winds veering from south westerly back to westerly

rainfall

Posted Image

starts dry

but there will be some showers overnight but should not last too long

temps

Posted Image

looks to be chilly either side of the rain band

however i would say no frost due to cloudcover

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

sunday

Posted Image

winds ease down

south westerly and not too cold

rain

Posted Image

looks dry but could be foggy especially south coastal regions

temps

Posted Image

chilly day

around 5-8 degrees

the lower temps more likely north of the river

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

sunday night

Posted Image

winds breezy south westerly but not overly strong

rainfall

Posted Image

dry again

temps

Posted Image

could be close to a frost tonight

fog though still likely to pop up again locally

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

monday

Posted Image

winds breezy south - south westerly

rain

Posted Image

at present it should stay dry for most of the day

temps

Posted Image

somewhere around 6-8 degrees

we may actually see a fairly sunny day today

well i could just post rain at present

but there are actually quite a few dry bits for us on the above

Well there is only one thing for it on an evening like this. Stick the heating on, curl up with something terribly comforting and calorie laden and then snuggle up in bed listening to the rain on the window.

yep totally agree! shame the wifes here

i'm hungry.....

hi tom

the rain is getting silly now

even walking around croydon centre is looking like big puddle city

lets hope we can at least squeeze at few dryer slots inbetween this deluge

got a feeling if you look at ukmo at 144

Posted Image

we may have a chance of a mid atlantic ridge building

small sign at present

but any chance of stopping this muck would be gratefully accepted

Yeuk!!!

Ventured out at 19.30 for supplies from the local Tatco XS.....now soaking wet and "windswept"Sometimes I really hate being the "unelected by default and assumption" Flood Warden of the village....go away residents - start owning your own problems instead of conveniently trying to dump them on me. Rant now over!..Stream very high - but I think it will cope.JJ - I will respond shortlyNeed to eat now...

Tomorrow: Given the inclement weather, have Mount Kilimanjironing to sort tomorrow whilst the winds get up...with selected DVD's/Sky+ recorded progs to keep me occupied.Piggies are fine....althouigh we are having a serious marital spat tonight with Ginger and Tia....they are 4 years wedded so don;t want to separate them but might be necessary to avoid injury

Does that ridge make good flying weather around 9pm from Heathrow?

I hate taking off in wet and windy weather.

MK, Looks like the pub is the Three Cup Inn but I can only find one in Dover, Bedford and another in Central London. None of these seem to show any resemblance to the buildings in the photo assuming the name is correct. I looked at street level Google Earth.

Any more clues? Oh yes, weather - wet and drizzle.

Leave the pigs to it - think of all that lovely bacon for my waffles Posted Image  there's always a silver lining.

I bet it's Ginger's fault. Came back from wallowing in the mud and got it all over the sty again so poor Tia had to clean it up.

Just been out for a ciggie and could hardly hold the kitchen door open. Very gusty out there. However, the rain isn't as bad now.

Um.....is that headed towards us, John? It looks a tad grim. :O

Yes I noticed that too and thought the same - it was a bit like that when I moved there, they still hurded cows down the high street to a cattle market at the far end !

somewhere in kent???? :)

No - I was born in Kent but moved to this place when I was 2 years old :-)

Okay - clue 1: It was the county town and had a sheriff

Quite blustery, a mild 7.8 c and raining steadily down here this evening, after spending afew hours at college fighting an overgrown and strangled copper beech (used to be a hedge) over 10ft high' and fixing the lecturers car during tea break, whose complete dashboard decided to go blank :-)

Came home and decided with the gusts in store, needed to take drastic action to move my greenhouse away from the neighbouring fence which has been swaying horribly since December storms. Knackered, now sitting in front of the wood stove with a nice wine, listening to the wind through the chimney. Have a good and safe weekend all.

S*ds law says as I've entered the snow cup for the first time this year, the blizzard will start on the 7th and finish on the 17th.

I think we need to transfer the Snow Depth Cup to the loft, it accumulating an awful lot of dust. :(
