This looks potentially much worse than Jude so why are the media and the goverment practically ignoring it in comparison?

Front back edge just went through here. Rapid appearance of blue sky. The winds went up a notch.

I think this is where they swing from South, to South-Westerly

If you see the radar, there was a strong band, and it 'just' missed here, passing to my north

Ye can check the power outages across Ireland here. https://www.esb.ie/esb-networks/powercheck/

Cork and Kerry seem the worst hit at the moment

EDIT: AA twitter is here https://twitter.com/aaroadwatch

KERRY: Avoid the Dingle Peninsula as there is a lot of debris flying around, including reports of shed roofs.

Tornado reported in Roscommon

Reports this afternoon of a small tornado in Co. Roscommon, as stormy weather conditions continue to affect the country.

More than 10,000 homes across the West and South are without power this lunchtime, most of them are in Cork and Kerry where a red weather warning is in force.

Met Éireann has issued three weather warnings covering all Irish counties. They are warning of a flooding risk in coastal areas from high seas and heavy rainfall.

And forecaster Joanna Donnelly says they have been made aware of reports of a small tornado in Athleague, Co Roscommon

Please keep the reports coming guys n gals, all the better when they are live reports from the areas currently effected by the worst of this "WILD WEDNESDAY" storm as its been dubbed by media circles. *Perhaps I should add from the safety of inside a building, not from outside* Posted Image

Big gusts in Exeter now and horizontal rain!  I gues this is where the strongest winds for us in Exeter will be!  I'd say gusting around 60mph so far....

The wind is certainly gaining strength now the leading edge has passed through, dread to think what it will be like further North.

Starting to get quite bad in the south, some severe gusts and squally hail and rain showers.

Saying that, the sun has just come out! Worst of the winds expected around 2-3pm, just in time for the school runs...

Scary if you are in a car, just think of the poor kids that have to walk home!

Maybe the schools should shut at lunchtime in the 'red' zone.

Met Office just issued yellow warning for Snow in North & West Yorkshire. Presumably the colder air coming in behind the storm

Rain will turn to snow over the high ground of northern England and southern Scotland later on Wednesday evening, becoming showery overnight into Thursday, with a risk of some snow to lower levels later. Accumulations of 1-3 cm of snow are possible above 150-200 metres and 5-10 cm above 300 metres. Combined with severe gales (see separate warnings), blizzards are likely to affect higher level roads.

Maybe the schools should shut at lunchtime in the 'red' zone.

Reading my local rag online, they are reporting some schools are closing at 1pm because of the winds.

Winds are back again now, gusting 60-67 mph, more from the sw than earlier. Sun now gone, it is grey and overcast.
