GFS 12z shows stronger winds than forecast previously at 3pm today for SW Wales especially, looks like this is worse than initially thought if anything

I tell you what, its hard not to like some of the pictures and reports coming in on this thread whilst having a heavy heart and simply hoping and praying that folk have largely stayed safe out there. Posted ImageEither way I must say I've enjoyed this thread and the day itself and am Thankful that I haven't had to travel anywhere.

Unbelievable gusts here now. Very scary! Must be around 90mph gusts now.

Front bedroom double glazing window frame is moving at the bottom of it!!

Winds stronger across the south for Friday/Saturdays storm. Widespread gusts of 50-60mph across the Midlands,EA, SW and Southern England with higher along the coasts. A further 20mm of rain for areas that are currently flooded. Britain is certainly taking a battering!

The pulse of rain now moving into NW wales (near Aberdaron) in association with the strongest winds shown on the GFS 12z. Where that 'blob' goes is where the 100+mph winds are.

New data has upgraded the wind potential, the storm is deeper than the earlier model runs suggested hence the widening of the amber warning areas in the last hour.

Worse storm in many a year! Very dangerous travelling conditions into the evening, Stay safe everyone.

We'll know I know what 80mph sustained winds feels like.. With rain swell it's a face stinger. It's unbelievable the sound out here on the island. I think the trip home will find lots damage around here. I'm sure gusts here have been 90s frightening

I find it pretty amusing to see all these reporters standing out in it, and also one woman was interviewed whilst out in the wind & rain, and

she advises people to stay indoors. So when are they going to take their own advice? Posted Image
