What are the sustained winds though? Those are gusts, the sustained winds need to be in excess of 73mph to be "hurricane strength". Either way, crazy stuff.

78mph  sustained winds.

I agree with Twistergirl; we seem to have survived the worst of it down here in Devon. Inland, at least. Sky is brightening up now the main rain band has passed. There was about a minute of absolute carnage on the back edge of the rain band - I thought the roof was for it! Certainly the heaviest wind/rain I've seen here since before Christmas. House is leaking like a sieve!

81mph nearby isnt too shabby though? Plymouth.

Something happened lol. Watched while both streams died.

Be aware on the south coast too - Plymouth just gusted to 81mph, mean wind speed force 10. The storm has just set in here in Portsmouth.

That's bang on the Met Office prediction :)

Cant believe there's a red warning for wind, and I'm right bang in the middle of it. Been out all morning battling the stream that runs under the driveway. Have to keep unblocking it from debris or it flows over and floods the road. Rain stopped now, winds are starting to pick up again, building up to the full force of this red warning. Nothing to photograph as of yet, will keep you posted.

I must say I wasn't expecting gusts so strong in this part of the country. In the last half hour winds have really picked up and the trees are going nuts. Seems like the strongest we've had this winter.
