NE winds in Europe (Amsterdam-Paris), when?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Me and my friends are planning to cycle from Amsterdam to Paris in 24 hours. Since it's a 500km ride, we need the best circumstances, most importantly the winds at our backs. I know there are trends for wind direction. Can anyone help me decide whether we stand the best chance in summer or spring to have a Northern, North Eastern wind?

Thank you for giving a push in the right direction!

Xander

There is a tendency for High Pressure to be persistent to the north of Scotland during the second half of spring, this often gives the east coast of the UK cold winds from the North Sea which would likely give the conditions you would prefer at least near the coast.

This scenario is most prevalent during May but much less so after mid June.
