You know the first day of the year when there is real warmth in the sun and the breeze feels mild. The first real day of Spring. Well this is it here. 14.2C at present already 2 degrees higher than this years top temp (yesterday). The only down is that the breeze is gusting over 40mph at times.

edit Reached a high of 14.8 C. Wind also rose with a high gust of 48 mph.

Not the worst weekend weather wise. Saturday was fairly bright and mild but quite a strong wind which made it feel much colder than it actually was when you were exposed to it. Sunday started out bright in Aberdeenshire but again, windy. Glasgow was however shrouded in grey cloud and still with a strong, cold breeze but stayed dry other than some brief light rain later in the afternoon. Didn't feel warm though.

Today we have mainly blue skies and sun with just the odd fluffy white cloud floating by in what is still quite a strong wind. Wind has certainly been one theme of the winter just passed (I'm going to assume it's over and done with now and lets just get one with some nice spring weather).

Wonder if tomorrow the rain or showers (or whatever we going to get) may well be quite lively for a time?

Mornin' Kilties! Usual pish day here, but looking like the rain may stay off for a few hours later. Oh, and by the looks of things maybe some white stuff by then end of the week. So, winter arrives just in time for spring!

Oooh a wintry outlook for many in Scotland, could be snow down to quite low levels especially under heaviest precipitation. Quite normal for this time of year under northwesterly airflows.

Suspect a number of places will see snow this evening and overnight, and not just higher ground. Things currently look just the right side of marginal for places with a little heights - say 150m+ and under any heavier precipitation snow could fall to lower levels. The hills will certainly get a good pasting.

Sub -5 degree uppers have been very rare this 'winter season'.

It's odds on to snow tonight, why? Well the family and I are traveling south, all the way to NW England, for a family christening. Last time we'd to head down the A90 on a Friday evening we got utterly plastered and were down to 20mph between Brechin & Forfar on an almost non-existent road. So for once I'd rather it didn't snow, at least not until we're south of the border.

Overnight low here last night was 0.8C. No frost, but feeling rather raw in a strong wind. Very little cloud about though so at least it looks nice outside.

Seems to a problem with the uppers usual story rain on most of the cams. Kind of sleety at Tyndrum but rain at Glen Ogle 700ft!
