Turned to sleet and now heavy wet snow here in central Edinburgh. Looks unlikely to lie here but I'd imagine the higher parts are taking a pasting, and with such intensity it's entirely possible that we might get a temporary covering at some point here too.

Still dry here for now but getting very grey. Anyway, I told you earlier that with me due to be driving South this evening that everything would be getting flung around. Oh well, big car, 4WD, I can cope.

Pretty wild here with some wet snow flakes. Just another wild day in this exceptional, relentless unsettled, miserable and shocking winter which will for sure go down in the history books.

Back to sleet again. Can't make its mind up.

A lot of the M-8 traffic cams between Newhouse and Bathgate are currently plastered in snow (either that or it's very misty).

Heavy wet snow here - big fluffy-looking snowflakes, but they turn to liquid on impact on window-glass instantly...Still - lovely to look out and see it (very glad I'm not having to walk anywhere in it…)

I'm about a mile away from one of those cams and this is the scene here... Posted Image

^ That's a similar level of cover to EK at the moment and it's coming down pretty heavily at the moment - getting there!

It'll no doubt be rain just 50m or so lower on the road home though.

Moderate to heavy driving, horizontal sleet.

Edit: can see wet flakes at times.

Heavy snow here (just outside Penicuik) at the moment and has been for the last half hour. I'm shortly heading back to Peebles but am told it's the same there. Yahoo!

Rain again! Seems as if it is going to be rain with sleet in the heavier bursts for the next few hours before probably staying as rain after that
