Think next winter is when I'll be hoping for snow. This winter has just been a failure of epic proportions! Beginning to forget what snow even looks like now!

One thing that has kept me very happy, is the amount of storms that have happened, and unbelievably some locations have already surpassed 2013 altogether! Quite astonishing. Hopefully we will have one of them 90's summers with lots of awesome storms.

Hi guys.

Dear oh dear.... Over 24 hrs of rain now. I must admit I've had my snow fix in Lapland in December. BUT, you cannot beat having snow in your own back yard.

In all honesty now, I'm ready for a dry up, above average temps to dry up all the flooding. I'm really sick of it now.... Bring on a bitter winter 14/15 :-)

Hi, not been around since early afternoon but have noticed a few references to this post I presume.

Fail to see the logic in this, causes nothing but resentment, regional thread is a perfectly fine combination of banter and weather and certainly doesn't need posts to be deleted from it.

It's my opinion and one I am more than happy to state.Posted Image

Agreed.

And it's raining (so I'm not deleted also :) )

All I can think about hearing the rain on the window is why isn't it snow? Imagine how mad it would've been on here today if this had all been snow? The precip has built and moved just like it did last February when it snowed on the 4th..just constant light snow from the SE, nothing major but enough to make everything white and have a sledge on.

I still think we will have at least a day of something in February...like they say:

Looking at radar it may actually stop raining here soon, unless it starts back filling again like earlier.

Very interesting, didn't know about the desalination being the only potable supply. Very expensive and as I understand it, they need to invest heavily to keep it running. But in dry climate of course it has to be an option where groundwater isn't viable.

Currently Lanzarote has two water desalination plants situated at Punta Los Vientos in Arrecife and Planta Janubio in Yaiza. Due to an increase in demand of water, these plants are now operating at 90% of their maximum capacity every day. The first desalination plant was installed in 1964 this enabled the tourism industry, prior to that fresh water was brought in from other islands, firstly as ship's ballast, then eventually, as a commercial venture.post-10773-0-05708500-1391036788_thumb.jThe island generally has only 15 days of measurable rainfall in a year....I don't think we've had 15 days without rain here !
