Anyone else having radar problems again? The 13:15-13:25 images are rather wetter than they should be!

Big blob of rain coming down the M4 at the moment almost at the M25.

Alternative sources would suggest it is getting heavier as it enters our region:

Chill out people (no pun intended) we've seen snowfall in March and April in quite recent years. Need I remind you of tbe March snowfall that brought the SE to a standstill a few years back.

HAIL, MEGA STRONG WINDS WOW! SURPRISING!

Nice!

Will be here in 30 minutes, and is apparently developing further! :)

I was hoping to have a bonfire tonight, (everything is soaked through, wood I'm not worried about, it's the cardboard which I need to light the fire!) I was hoping for no rain today

I have the christmas tree, my old wardrobe, the old garage roof, about 6 broken fence panels and at least 50 boxes to burn, all on an old cut down bush area in the garden which needs to be killed

If we have another sudden downpour, petrol may be needed as an ignition source tonight :p

The bright reds have disappeared from radar now though - it's like the M25 is a big wall sucking life from it Posted Image

And 5 mins later they're back!

My thoughts exactly Lauren..snow this winter could be like waiting for a bus, you sit there patiently and then just when you least expect it three (foot) turns up all at once....

...we can all say what we would like, or think the weather will do but at the end of the day nature will do exactly as it pleases, having seen where nearly a quarter of an island (over 8 sq km) has been left almost completely buried in lava and ash after volcanic eruptions you realise how powerless we are on this planet !

I've said this before, I'm convinced taht the seasons have changed from their traditional months, its been going on for years, and then you arrive at this year.

And I have a horrible horrible suspicion that the reason we don't have any snow yet is because it isn't winter yet in the new scheme of seasons.

It is instead our new autumn hence the rain wind and lightning.

Which means that winter is yet to arrive.

All seasons are based on where we are around the sun, not the kind of weather we are likely to see. So JennyJane is correct ins saying that!

Afternoon all

Thought I would pop in and see what the world is doing weather wise, very much a colder feeling day out there today, few light showers (which is a bugger as I want to run power lead out to the car to run the charger),oh well, need to nip out quickly anyway, mayhap it will be a bit drier later.

Stopped for a coffee at the new services at Cobham?

Which means that winter is yet to arrive.

If we wait until December 2014, there will surely be another one along at some point

I’ve just come off the phone from one of my partner companies in Michigan USA. After exchanging the usual pleasantries, my opposite number out there started the conversation with the statement that he is "fed up with trying to shift the 3-4 ft of snow from his drive, most mornings before he gets into work". I almost put the ruddy phone down on him – you know that stuff can really get to a snow-starved Brit....

Just had the same with some colleagues in Chicago. Talking about the 5 feet drifts in the company car park.

Blimey Jax, the number of times you charge that car battery it's surely cheaper to just go out and buy a new battery by now ? Posted Image

Mixed mood time here. The mild winter has personally been a blessing for me in terms of keeping the heating bill down but Iv'e had more than enough of this never ending stream of Atlantic lows, grey skies and rain. Yep, it's raining again. Having said that I'm quite chuffed to have seen more lightning in the last month than I did in the whole of last year......Who'd have thought it ? Posted Image

hi all

just to show you again where differences are appearing on the models

this time at 120-144

gfs at 120

Posted Image

ukmo at 120

Posted Image

barring subtle differences these are quite close

however heres 144

gfs

Posted Image

ukmo

Posted Image

quite a difference there

the lows are obviously different strengths

however the difference i see there is the block to our east

if look at gfs that has clearly shoved the block a lot further east than ukmo

in fact ukmo has pushed the blocked slightly back towards us

heres the 850 uppers at 144

gfs

ukmo

Posted Image

note the differences to our north east

500 upper temps

gfs

ukmo

i have done this so you can see where the differences are at present

its going to be another model headache coming up shortly

because these changes can have quite an effect on where we go after

be interesting to see what run ecm follows next

anyway back soon with the fax charts
