Morning!  I think we can safely say it a wee bit stormy out there.  I emptied the tub I had in the corner of the dining room window this morning because of a leak and emptied out 2.8 litres and its filling up fast again.  The wind must have change direction as the other leaks have started and so have an array of pots and pans lining the window sills.

Rain easing down again at the moment and wind gusting to 51mph.  I was woken by an incredible hail storm at about 5am, the sound of it hitting my window was astounding.  Road at the bottom of the hill is impassable and the fields are flooded but otherwise the roads aren't too bad from what i have seen.  Take care.

Wooh! its windy, wet, no hold on very very windy. Thats the worst its been this winter. My normal commute is Newton Abbot to Exeter by rail with my trusty folding bike. Don't think that this means of getting into work is going to happen for a while. The stretch of line between dawlish and dawlish warren is really exposed to straight southlies. Good luck to those out and about today. Peter.

Hate to inform you mate but that stretch of track will be OOU for a long period of time now.A section of the sea wall has been destroyed with the resulting ballast and fishplates being washed away leaving the track balancing in the air;post-12721-0-47951100-1391593122_thumb.jThis means effectively starting from scratch and building a whole new wall and frame along with replacing the track itself. With the current inclement weather here to stay for the foreseeable future, it may be a number of days before work can even start.I would be prepared to alter your commute for the best part of the month now.post-12721-0-42420200-1391593326_thumb.jpost-12721-0-45334600-1391596670_thumb.j Edited by AWD

High tide at Wareham quay was 2:20am this morning, it was lapping over the top at 10:30pm, not sure how bad it got though.

Should be ok in New Forest, just avoid the Ford's.Travelling to the New Forest should be fairly un-problematic as you'll use the main Motorway networks all the way to the end of the M27, and then you are at the Forest.Bit soggy though, so I'd not bother with the picnic blanket.Enjoy

Thanks Karlos much appreciated, sounds like should be relatively ok then, at the moment anyway!

Take care everyone effected

And to top it all off, us Bristolians have got to be extra vigilant as we have a crocodile roaming around our city! ;) ;)

I'm off for a road trip, see if I can get some pics.

Just heard on the radio that power lines are down in Wareham, not sure where too though. The lights have been flickering here.

Not me bud, they're from friends I have on Twitter. It's pretty bad at Weymouth/Chesil/Portland.

I'm heading the other way shortly. :)

Been out to West Bay ( Broadchurch ) probably the worst I've seen in a few years the harbour overflowed and the front impassable and to add to that a fallen tree blocking the road from Bridport, just up the coast at Freshwater near Burton Bradstock the shingle sea defence has been completely washed away flooding the caravan park behind and the flood plain upto Burton village, had the rainfall been greater then there would have been a major flood! I have photo's which I will post ASAP.

I think this could be storm surge related

High tide here this morning was: 9:40am

It should be halfway out by now... but it's not

http://www.eyeballhq.tv/surfcheck/westward-ho/

It tends to go out a long way here... normally

Winds now increasing... could be an interesting few hours ahead

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
