Does anyone have a rough idea how much in snow totals are expected through the south and west..

Or are they a bit vague at the moment..just curious?

Clear skies here, looks like the precipitation across Herefordshire,Worcestershire is drying up.. Could be a long night for around here. Looking good further west for you lot!

My thoughts of the ongoing wintry potential i have just posted on here which may be of interest to some... - http://weatherwave.co.uk/

just seen a flash of lightning to my south, not too sure how far away, but quite distant

Just had a massive fighter jet come over here from Brize, thought was thunder for a second. Posted Image

Are you serious Mark?Though if this was forecast I would still be optimistic that there would be a huge surprise...Seen it before from the south west systems..Always optimistic:-) for the unexpected as english weather isWatching the weather as taught me that:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)If by any chance you do not get any snow you can always ask J for hisSnow machine Edited by pat lightning timmer

Depends on the altitude i reckon. Dusting on the moors and larger hills temporary slush at the very best lower down and that's only in the favoured spots.

Nothing of any note here yet.A decent cluster has developed over the Bristol channel heading for the Mendips though.

yes interesting cluster just heading in now although seems a lull after those unless more spawn behind.

Look on the radar to the western part of Ireland; an organised band of precipitation forming heading East. Midnight onwards here, perhaps?

There's some purples in there as well.

If it does snow later i wont see it, as our council decided to turn off the street lights from midnight (since the Summer)!

Yes that happens here also which is annoying when it snows but I'm a stargazer and enjoy it when the skies are clear but so annoying when I'm on snow watch!

Some light wet snow falling here at the moment. Posted Image Not laying but if we could get some heavy ppn over night it might be possible.

Hmm.....will that band of heavy showers in Ireland actually make it across the Irish Sea?

Still the 18z is throwing up some surprises this eve.

I think they should even pep up across the open water, or hope

11 pages in around 10 hours?? Must be the magic of snow potential :p

All showers seem to be skirting around here this evening, meaning nothing has fallen from the sky at all (to my knowledge!) :cray:

I would have thought this would be a perfect time for the Bristol Channel streamer to take place but all the shower bar a few seems to be keeping to a more south trajectory.

Very frequent fast moving showers here. Often containing hail and seems to be a little sleet and snow too. Only 2 or 3c here in Falmouth right now. A few lightning strikes detected nearby too.

I think Ireland is the key to see what happens to that ppn as it moves our way, saying that there is signs of more showers pepping up in Bristol channel again.

Later the better chance of decent snow I would have thought as temperatures continue to creep downwards as we head through the night.

Temperature at moment 1.7c dp of -2

The precipitation is gathering over Ireland, but no reports on the Ireland regional thread of snow from this during the latter part of this evening. Temperature here is now 1.8C with an earlier low of 1.6C.
