I'm not going to go into the history of this as it's covered in the history section. But for a brief reminder.

Tragically 47 people lost their lives  and was the biggest weather related disaster since the east coast floods.

 

I know what I was doing so do others have memories of that horrific storm?

 

I remember because I was working that day at Camborne radiosonde station and attempting to get the balloon away was a total nightmare. I began to wish I was back on weather ships. Made it in the end.

 

We recorded a gust of 83kts and Gwennup Head just down the road ten more.

The burns day storm yes a lot died that day,we missed the worst of it here not too much damage but remember it well, looking at that wind map the highest winds were everywhere but around this part interesting although that's in knots hmmm,62mph knot mean hour in the far south on land second highest.

Storm of jan 2007 was far more intense here like nothing I`ve seen.
