Last night's rain cleared during the early hours to leave a dry, mild and foggy end to the night. The fog cleared shortly before 0900 and the morning was dry with a few sunny intervals.

The afternoon began dry but with a thickening bank of black cloud approaching from west which brought a short but active thunderstorm between 1410 and 1425 with several strokes of fork lightning and some loud thunder. There was a short spell of heavy rain and hail with the storm and then further moderate showers of rain, sleet and hail for the rest of the afternoon with some squally gusts of wind to accompany them.
