Southernman has finally got the back door to unstick from the frame after an awful lot of shoving at it, and swearing at it.I've had the same wooden door for ten years and never ever seen the wood swollen jammed shut like that before. He's now taking a bit off the side of it so it fits.I'm just worried that when it finally dries out, there's be a hole down that side.

Well im still holding out for the 10th- 14th feb purely as like last year will be sods law and snow on daughters party

I remember going to a birthday tea in the early eighties in February and it was snowing very heavily, don't know which year it would have been but I do remember everyone remarking on the snow.

Fair dos - I was unsure whether this chattier thread would really benefit from lengthy, technical quotes which, if I'm honest, I struggled to understand in all its nuances.Posted ImagePosted Image

It boils down to the fact that it isn't going to snow, here, ever again, but it will rain, lots. For along time, then it won't. And the sun will come out.

Just a bugbear of mine, happens on Twitter all the time - retweets rarely resemble any original quotes. No offense intended.Posted Image

Don't worry - it was a fair cop!  I read his words to suggest that there's still the tantalising prospect of wintry weather lasting more than 2-3 days, but that the most likely outcome was a return to zonality (not that we're going to be much drier the next few days anywayPosted Image ).

Ha Ha very funny....... I am sure we have had no snow due to the new super dooper snow depth cup being so well prepared and organised and ready....lol more frustrating for the gallant due who got it all ready all be it at least 2 months early...lol

Evening :)Nice to see we are all first in the snow depth cup :rofl:Very chilly feel to today, wet and windy with a high of 7c.A question for Surrey...I'm interested in the following post on the mod thread -

This is exactly what I was trying to tell my local thread. I think we can rule out (I know big plunge in this form) cold For the start of Feb and into the middle of Feb until we get towards march and we see the PV have other ideas. Yes it could all change tonight and we have a raging easterly on the cards at the end of next week.. But personally I can't see it and put a bet on that the pattern that bought us the horrible weather on the lead up to Christmas re-starts its self for now..

When were you telling us this? ;)

Does frost count then?

Would a change to the "puddle depth cup" be an idea?

Evening all

Had a stroll out tonight (was needed) and whilst cold and damp it is not a bad eve for a walk, after the wet start it remained much of a dullness here really, nothing of interest (unless you like dull), not sure if I will see a frost by morning here (I am close to the edge of a rural town), either way it is a slightly extra early start for me in the morning than normal so a 05:00 alarm call rather than a 05:30 one.
