We will all be at the airport when you return to clear the runway of the snow, have a good time.

I might take you up on that Chris as long as your not expecting to pile it all up and measure it for your entry into the snow depth cup !!

I just hope this trough doesn't get stuck over the SE like the last one.

Becoming more likely to occur unfortunately and that these occurrences like what happened on Friday could happen again and especially next week, as blocking to the east and slow down of the weather pattern continues to affect, the fronts/troughs though have a chance of weakening to as they get here.

hi alexis

uppers are much cooler and not much unstable air so that trough should not chuck out heavy rain

if it does it will likely be the very very far south east of the region

i do not see a big problem with it

Morning all, hope everyone is well. Really enjoyed the photo JP off the sulphur mine found the fascinating and frightening, can't imagine what's it like working in those conditions and without breathing apparatus, and they make 2 or 3 journeys per day into the mine for $13 dollars per day, makes you appreciate living where we do. I suggest everybody looks at JP link a couple of post above this, truly amazing set of photographs.

Off to sittingbourne today to see two grandchildren and their mother, must be prepared for plenty of noise, lovely kids and it will be a pleasure seeing them.

Well that confused me, I was bored, her indoors couldn't be bothered to get out of bed, so I went the MOD thread for the first time in over a year, I thought I might get an indication for next week as I got a fair bit of travelling to do, I think you can say the model runs are mixed, so no further forward. I think I will stick to JP etc thoughts in here. Have a great day.

Dear oh dear, its official I'm old, it's the 50th anniversary of one of the true great (well probably only in my opinion who has only seen a handful) films Zulu, I remember queuing to see it around when I failed my 11 plus, I think my dad decided to treat us to try to cheer me up, think it worked for a few hours, yes, even to this day I am bitter about failing my exam, but that's another story. What a film, what a story. The link if it works is interesting as it tell a different version of the history and how the film was made http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/features/the-untold-story-of-the-film-zulu-starring-michael-caine-50-years-on-9069558.html

I shouldn't go down memory lane, 40 years ago this year it was the first of the Who open air concerts at the Valley I think officially over 86000 in the ground that day / night, can't remember if this or the second one in '76 was the loudest concert every, apparently it could be clearly heard on shooters hill, how many of you where there, I wasn't think I was playing cricket, wished I was there however must have been great. It was a warm summers day and evening.

Weather seems dry, and damp.

Morning all

Woke up today to...

...rain, no surprises there then, good news is it appears to be clearing and looking out the window I can even see some scattered patched of blue sky.  Not got much planned for today, last night was busy (nephews birthday party), nice family gathering with food and drink laid on, so today will be a quite one for me.

Lovely to wake up to calm sunshine this morning! View from bedroom window blue sky and a few fluffy white clouds! Not seen that in a while.

I love lazy Sunday mornings reading the newspaper and not having to rush! Youngest son off out to Brighton and the oldest and I might take the dog to the coast for a walk, then back in time for a roast dinner. Perfect!

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing, and enjoy the sunshine whilst it is here.

Morning all. :)

Surprisingly there's a real 'pea souper' here.

(actually I've just made some ham and pea soup... the weather is quite benign, after more overnight rain) :D

good morning from here with the same weather.

we should leave a thought for these in the news article, i bet they would have been begging for rain last night, such a terrible thing to see, and so many injured as well.

Thinking of getting the slow cooker out some time in the next week and making some "cold day winter" meals as it seems we are set to see some colder days coming up (it gets me in the mood anyway).  Finally appears to have stopped raining here, if it remains calm I just may have a walk a bit later to help clear the head after last nights party (for now it is a cup of tea and watching the news before I run the vacuum round).

Nowegian news have just given an announcement, the fire is still not under control and now there are three hundred injured, I am guessing firefighters as well, just so sad about it.

If you do, let us know what you are cooking as I'm always looking for slow cooker meals, its so easy to cook that way.
