It is so nice to sit here and not wonder if the lead flashing will come off for a 3rd weekend in a row?  yes it's a bit damp outside but it's very quiet.......bliss!

Instead I'm wondering if the only snow I'll get will be while I'm away in next month? :(

It's raining in Ippy. Makes a change I guess. :)

Just been watching a programme on CI about unusual deaths. A bible salesman was trying to sell his wares to a woman......when he was struck by a 'bolt from the blue' right on her doorstep. Oh, the irony!

It explained about 'Stepped Feelers' and how they travel miles from the original storm area looking for a quick rout to Earth. This one found it right enough. :)

http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ lets hope this clears quickly then we should stay dry until sunday evening which is a start

Hello JohnWhat are the chances do you think of a few days out of next week being dry? To me it looks like we have a real risk of weather fronts held up over the areas that really don't need it, including Surrey and round about, but I'd love your more expert opinion. Anyway, hope all's ok with you my friend, thanksAS

Trip to 'likers anonymous' for you I thinkPosted Image

Nothing anonymous about it if the first thing you have to do is stand up and say ' hello my name is _______ and I'm a likerholic'

Cold and damp here .... I'm on my second hot choccy, watched the battered Britain weather programme now catching up with the Grand Canyon one from Sunday :-)

this is different again Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

a variable but mainly westerly flow

low pressure over us which is likely to cause heavy rain for a time

however it looks likely to be moving very quickly so should not last too long

this may go south east as well

528 dam air close to our north east

a lot of high pressure there to our north and north east

waiting 120

Remember Freddy well. Went to Spain for a week and it cost £27 all in at a hotel in Costa Brava. Worst holiday I had but married my then girl friend so best holiday in the end and, yes, we are still happily married. Oh, and to keep it on topic - it was hot.

wednesday

Posted Image

a fairly strong south west wind

yuk

fronts over us causing more rain

there is a chance it may go to our east but hard to call this

note the high pressure to our north and north east

and the potential the high to out north west and west will block the atlantic or at least slow it down

not cold

the other thing showing is the 528 dam air to our north east has not budged

there could be an undercut situation there and the outlook after this would be very different

safe to say

fi is at 96

do not lose hope if looking for cold

this situation is far from resolved yet

hi as

updated on previous page

i am more confused now than earlier

Its really dragging out this one JP don't you think. I don;t think any of us have an idea whats going on with the models, However i am pretty convinced we could be in for a very Wintry trip very very shortly, Days not weeks.

Here in Brighton it's been a lovely day, the sun made a welcome appearance, albeit Crisp AM frost at Stanmer College. We propagated some £5k worth of hard wood cuttings in saturated ground conditions, but Stanmer Park was thriving, snow drops in abundance and daffs already poking through. I even have a scabious (cornflower) flowering in the Garden.

Have a good weekend all :-)

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
