It seems there was a plethora of atmospheric optical phenomena today - a result of the thin high cirrus with the sun shining through it !

Another gloomy exit from work... It started raining and the wind picked up also. Now standing outside the pub, no rain, still breezy but feels a lot colder.

On BBC 1 @ 19:30 "Battered Britain".

No it's not about fish n chips,

It's about Storms, Tides and Floods.

I wonder if by any chance "Global Warming" shall be mentioned.

Another god awful ECM run. :(

Even though the models have gone a bit pear shaped for coldies, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg,( hee hee). The fact that this relentless Atlantic train shows signs of easing off is a bonus.Sometimes cold takes a few bites of the cherry to get established, so hopefully things will soon get better.

The Eastern side of the states now have warnings for heavy rain and flash floods. Hmmmm so they have had an outstanding wintry spell and now Wind,Rain and flash floods. Haven't we just had Wind Rain, and flash floods,So i guess the next severe spell of Weather has to be..?...Just trying to build a picture here.

I agree, I was hoping it would be dry for a bit, doesn't look like it will be though.

Yep it was. It was a question that was asked, I'm not to sure by the reaction the person was convinced that global warming is the cause.

So far, GFS isnt so bad. What it does, is it keeps the heights over Svalbard to the North of the Scandi trough to stop those heights phasing with them over S Europe and getting dragged down. Lets hope we can maintain those Northern heights and get them to start the trend of a Greeny high (Knitting fog would be a chance). But still, this is far from over in my opinion, and the models are all over the shop themselves. It isn't unknown for an Easterly to disappear entirely and then return the next day, all within a 48 hour period in Dec 2005!
