The poxy radar is useless lately for my spot, the ever present line of doom underestimating rainfall, 16mm fell here going by the radar overnight but recorded 32mm on the ground.

We had some sleetyness earlier but no white even on the mountains at around 400-450m right now, the Brecon Beacons are white though, looks like a decent covering on Pen y Fan.

Beware of a major storm coming tomorrow, severe gales, perhaps 80-90mph gusts across NW Wales especially. Likely the strongest winds of the winter so far.

The chance of some heavy snowfall for a time this evening across Wales. Some very heavy showers will develop this evening due to deep instability behind the cold front, this will also bring the snow level to low levels later tonight with low thicknesses, with the main precipitation looking to occur around 11pm-1am. Some good quick accumulations of snow likely on higher ground but limited to lower coastal areas. Either way, more rain and wind tomorrow so will be gone before you blink but maybe some fun for a time for most of us.

Am I right in saying this latest storm seems to be staying west a little longer before crossing the UK? The forecast wind for South/South West Wales is down on yesterday and the warning has dropped to yellow from yesterdays amber.

Which explains why it's the North West that looks now to take the brunt as highligted by Bobby above.

I remain very sceptical with regards to lying snow from an Atlantic flow away from the mountains (say ~350-400m), just never seems to happen here at least. The NMM suggests limited wintry potential away from high ground

I'd inclined to believe it!

Problem with these showery troughs tonight they may introduce air the wrong side of marginal. In any case any snow soon swept away by morning.
