The strong winds are across Wales gusting 48mph here inland and above 60mph along coasts.

Only 6.6mm of rain here in Pencoed over the past 24 hours - has the storm passed through or is it coming in later today?

The storm is incoming. It's rain bearing to the extent that there are loads of showers. But its not a monsoon.

We've been phenomenally lucky this winter in Pencoed. To the North and West of us there have been huge amounts.

Probabaly not too bad in SE Wales, peaking this afternoon and evening, quite a sustained period of high winds this.

Quite calm in the SE. Storm? What storm? Even later, the winds aren't forecast to be that strong.

same here, what storm ? Just a brisk wind here nothing like a gale , we have not had any rain for hours and the foot ways and road outside are dry !

There is a storm - another unusually deep low crossing Northern Ireland currently. It's just the hills of the west have soaked up most of the moisture like a sponge and your area is probably sheltered from the worst of the winds, which in any case were predicted to affect chiefly the Irish Sea coasts today. 49mph gust here recently along with 30mm rain in the past 24 hours.

Back from a run along the sea front. If this keeps up it looks like the snow ploughs are finally going to get used for the first time this winter - clearing sand from Oystermouth Road Posted Image

With the sand dunes washed away by the recent high tides, the wind is moving the beach onto the road. I'm still digging sand out of my ears.

In a b&b in criccieth and wow, high seas, and the wind well,I've never experienced anything like it. Literally takes you, off, your feet. Found a great cafe which backs on to the sea, fabulous view of high tide with a nice warm coffee.
