Moderate rain with falling temperature down to 3.4c, so chance of sleet and hill snow this evening.

A little sleet in the rain, 2.7c, very heavy precipitation around Carmarthen may be giving snow above about 250m.

Our best chance this winter coming up Tuesday Wednesday of seeing a snow cover across Wales a cold pool of air moves across us on a strong westerly flow bringing sleet / snow showers Posted ImagePosted Image

over the tops I expect - meto have it over 500 metres - which is above Storey Arms height - nothing here obviously - just wet! - 11th may give us something - but also may get downgraded before then!

Dowlais top is even wet at the mo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

meto have snow above around 400m from sunday through to tuesday - let's hope that drops a little further

Reported in our neighbouring Midlands thread that FB talked of snow above 250m parts of mid and north Wales yesterday evening, also the guy from Malvern could see snow on the Welsh hills first thing, so it did indeed happen!

It's difficult to overstate just how bad tomorrow looks. I'd say non essential travel should be avoided.

yes I think your right I heard on radio in work this morn that s wales will get heavy rain and gales tonight about 60 mph or more and then tomorrow morn they said the winds will get even stronger 80 to 90 mph that's dangerous wind speed.

Can see the Beacons from my house and they are solid white, especially Pen y Fan, looks a decent covering on the tops. It turned a bit sleety for a time here but mostly cold rain.

Another 2 inches of rain possible in places over the next 3 days and goodness knows how much more after that, severe gales as well. Met Office even mentioning storm force for the coasts. First batch of winds this evening then the worst of it around tomorrow evening.

nasty low inward bound heading for Wales here - http://www.sat24.com/en/eu

Estofex have a level 1 warning out for wind gusts and tornadoes over South Wales for overnight tonight - kind of winds we are gonna have will blow us all away!

still looking wintry for us between about 9th - 13th next week!

this was updated this morning from the beacons mountain forecast

Sunday 9th February

Staying very windy with brighter spells and blustery showers. Once again, the showers could be heavy with hail and thunder, and snow above 200m. Severe gales are likely at height, making it feel bitterly cold. Any lying snow is likely to freeze, leading to icy conditions underfoot. Freezing level 400 metres.

coming down a tad!

Imagine the snow event if yesterday's rain in Carmarthenshire was all snow.
