gfs 18z - trying to give us something to smile about for next sunday - but a long way off and more improvements would be nice on this theme

only trying to give a little hope for us snow/winter starved Welsh folk - that's all

still no major cold - but there's always tomorrows model runs - you never know it could be round the next corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted Image

Hurrah - Andymusic's back at his (near) best. "Risque de neige" - very enchante Andy, very enchante!

I have a little song here, join in if you know the tune...

Que sera sera, whatever will be will be, so long as it snows on me, que sera sera (repeat ad nauseum).

I am convinced that if enough of us on the NW Cymru/Wales thread sing this song over and over, then snow, ice and all manner of cold weather will come our way.

Sounds a great idea - sing up everyone

Joe B - trying to pattern match to the end of world war 1 would you believe - when they had a cold winter - as cold as it's been so far over in America - but - unfortunately the pattern matching ends this side of the water - where - in the UK we had some cold and snow through December 1917 and into January 1918 - up to about 17th/18th - then it became springlike - mmmmmmmmmmmmm - what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why should I? The weather will do what it will, a hard Winter would cause suffering and death for the elderly and infirm.

And this "winter" has caused and still is causing suffering and death...your point being?

ECM being very naughty if it's got this wrong again - teasing everyone like this

It's having a flipping good go you know - last one 240 is a bit muddled mind you

Ian Fergusson not discounting the run - like a naughty little meto elf

here's a precautionary word of advice from a model thread contributor (thought it was real funny)

"you all know what to do now?

Don`t tell any friends that the cold spell is back on

Tell yourself not to look at the 18z later but to have a sneaky look!

And when you check back later and see 999 users try and not go BananasPosted Image"

203mm this month now, some heavy showers today but no thunder or hail, oh well.

I got an offer from from Reading University to study meteorology later this year! Im that much closer to working for the Met Office!!

Cool, might get to visit the ECMWF as well as that's based in Reading.
