I have seen the lights myself, that was on a night return flight from LAX to LHR passing over the polar region, very pretty to see.

I have seen them once in Oulton Broad (nr Lowestoft) in 2003 or 2004. Very pretty.

Best time to see the aurora might be 0:30 to 3:00 ( in just over two hours)

Not out of the question to see it from the south of England, but unlikely. Posted Image

Funnily enough, for me it was San Fran to Amsterdam.  I had a window seat and a non sleepr next to me so I looked out the window  --  and what a reward about 2.5 hours of green dancing curtains in the sky

Moored up there a couple of years ago at the Wherry Hotel and watched the power boat racing. :)

I was very lucky to see the northern lights too on a day trip to Lapland , it was beautiful ,would love to go again . It was exhausting & a day isn't really long enough ,plus the fact the gatwick didn't de ice the doors before we left so we were stuck on the flying bar for ages before we could get off ! The crew went berserk because of safety reasons ,ie if there was a fire on board ? Lapland though ,stunning & brrrrrrr cold like I've never experienced !

From the Telegraph. Hotels to see the Northern Lights. Bound to not be cheap, but you only live once (probably Posted Image)

Yes, I think they look fabulous. I might have to have a serious look at a holiday like that. A once in a lifetime thing. :)

A C@bra meeting today has taken place ahead of the risk of a dry weekend, an alert has been issued for the potentially dry weather, flood waters should recede revealing peoples backyards again and farmers seeing some of their fields reappear.

That is my dream: to see the Northern Lights, stay in an Ice Hotel and have a midnight sleigh ride drawn by Huskies... I'd quite like to meet Santa as well but that might be too much to ask for...

Ah, yes. Every Thursday evening in the summer. And I witnessed a great thunderstorm from the Wherry (while sober) in the 90s. :)
