yep. agree. having worked the whole of this country, and many places abroad, we never really seem to see the things that are good on our own doorstep. personally i hate where i live. but love the area for its diversity and difference in environment. from thames barrier to oxleas woods. from the urban sprawl of the arsenal site to the greenery of plumstead. suppose we dont appreciate things until we look hard at them Posted Image

In the last two years I have found how much I really love where I live, it is a town, but rural, the countryside is but a mile in almost any direction, it is close to the village I grew up in, and have the most fantastic valley and wetlands you could ever wish for, and near by there are other parks and nature reserves, all within 10 minutes by car and more slightly further out.

We have more wetlands here then the entire great fens.

I assume you mean by rain ... or was it the fashion police ?

Wet and miserable out here but nice and warm snuggled up and ready for bed with my hot choccy in hand :-)

Fashion Police? I think I could teach them a thing or too Posted Image

Just looked out and it is raining quite a lot here again and looking at the radar think it will last well into the night/morning.

Anybody find it cringeworthy that the media and reporters are using the term polar vortex that brought the cold to America? They havent got a clue! They think the low pressure over Eastern North America was a polar vortex.. even though the PV it is located right at the pole more or less. Other things such as mini tornado they use too.Posted Image ARGHHH it is so painful to hear!

Looks like they need to start recruiting their staff from right here on this site who actually know what they are on about! !

Was thinking the same.

It's just another buzz word the media throw about as in twerk, selfie ect.

They have no idea that the bitter cold spell we had in Dec a couple of years ago was a chunk of PV that dropped straight on to the UK from the Arctic! !!!

control run at 216

Hmmm just been lurking in MAD thread and some cryptic messages from Fergie about Met O picking up a SSW. The plot thickens!

Hi John well they have kept on saying about it turning colder end of the month into next month although that seems to have been diluted with their update today.

To be honest it's just nice to be looking at different synoptics rather than the wind and rain that we have constantly had.

hi sussex

the met office will play very cautious re the outlook

so keep watching as can change back very quick

the atlantic being blocked is good news for all

i expect even the water companys probably do not care if we get anymore rain or not

i am very close to calling a cold spell but will reserve myself from doing this until around saturday

i will still ramp

hi bob

Oh yea I don't blame them the responsibility the Met have is huge and they don't want to be caught out and just looking around you can see its not a done deal by any means.
