Just got back from the "Intellectual" forum (model discussion) - earlier this evening they were predicting a repeat of 1947 (yes, really); now, after an FI chart suggesting that the cold might not last for as long as they had all convinced themselves was the case, suddenly they're wailing about "downgrades".Posted ImagePosted Image

well watch  that  lot   local itv they are hopeless

I don't bother with any ITV at all, local or national. The funny thing is that back in the day, their local forecasts were way better than the BBC. Proper Met people, Hunt, Brooks and Bacon. :)I think their weekly forecasts were primarily produced for farmers, but I always tuned in. :)

Anybody find it cringeworthy that the media and reporters are using the term polar vortex that brought the cold to America? They havent got a clue! They think the low pressure over Eastern North America was a polar vortex.. even though the PV it is located right at the pole more or less. Other things such as mini tornado they use too.Posted Image ARGHHH it is so painful to hear!

Looks like they need to start recruiting their staff from right here on this site who actually know what they are on about! !

i am sure, and I don't recall if it was on net-weather, but I heard nineteenfortyseven being bandied about MONTHS ago.

How and why I don't know, given the uncertainties of the charts even a few days before an event.

Congrats madam

After nearly a whole week, I have cracked too. If they give me booze for Christmas, its their fault ...

If I have white, I'll have the whole bottle and I can't be glugging when I have a 5.30am start.......

I'm thinking white thoughts though.... and I had a piece of white toblerone....

I am going to have to try to stay awake until the GFS pub run comes out, just to see what (if any) backtracking it brings and to hopefully witness some hilarious toy throwing.

Irrationality: The enemy within - a great book and well worth a read for many toythrowers in the Intellectuals Thread.

Wont change a thing, but hey, its fun !

Trust me, with 800+ toys being thrown, it isn't ALL fun.........

This better verify! I will be sad if it doesn't.

"The mercury is expected to plunge to below freezing "(really in winter who would have thought it possible) "bringing harsh frosts and the risk of wintry showers to the entire country. "(Not just oop north then)

Oh deary me *shakes head*
