I think the area at most risk of any snow tonight will be my little patch along with Exmoor Dartmoor and possibly Bodmin Moor. With a cold feed direct from the West showers should be funnelled up the Bristol Channel crossing areas from the Mendips North towards South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see a covering on the high ground around here tomorrow morning plus the added chance of hail and thunder a period of much volatility coming up.

Quite wet but not as wet as was forecasted (15mm) and where's the wind? They said that would be a feature on south coasts today, just breezy here.

10mm so far for me today. Met App says sleet at midnight and 3am.

Might have to go and take the timer out of the lamp posts!Posted Image

Thursday looking cold, Maximum of 4C, certainly more seasonal this week!

What is lacking on this feature today is a squall line to clear the rain band. As it is we appear to just drift from persistent rain to more showery bursts in presumably brighter skies soon. Bit more rain that some folks on here today 15.6mm currently

At last some sunshine(ish). Hopeful we may see some snow tonight. That M.O. thread is quite painful to follow IMHO at the moment lol

Wind is alot lighter here today compared to yesterday afternoon, still raining not much as I thought we were going to get. Meto has my area down for heavy snow at midnight turning back to heavy rain by 3am . I will be setting my alarm clock just in case I fall asleep waiting to see my first snowflake of the winter.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
