Looking through the Euro4 data available on the "other site" it looks as though our chances in the West country go awry on Sunday night into Monday as the ppn comes in some 6 hours after we reach decent dew points and 850s. Still, the best chances of winter are ahead of us and we all lay in wait....

Edit: of course, those especially down somerset way are not going to be happy with the super duperstorm of ppn coming through on Sunday and I wish you well.

So looking good in terms of seasonal weather to be had for some at least! Who knows maybe the odd surprise for others.

Looking at the ECMWF 00z run there seems no chance of snow next week and hopefully less rain towards the backend. I say hopefully because the situation in the Somerset levels is pretty dire.

David braine ramp alert for spotlight. Suggesting showers turning increasingly wintery on Monday. Not known for over egging forecasts. Looking good for moors on the sw.

With the differences between the NWP output stark over the broader pattern (EC v UKMO for example), refined detail like snowfall over our region is an utter futile task. The potential is there, but equally it's not. So it looks like tomorrow's rain has been downgraded too? Twice in three days! The extensions of the yellow warnings were unnecessary IMO, they were only needed for the Somerset levels and perhaps Devon & Cornwall at a stretch. I certainly didn't get the rain that they harped on about on the BBC the day before. The graphics showed a good 15 hours of rainfall, in reality, it was 5 at the most, it wasn't raining at all in daylight hours.

Currently 10C

Lovely sunny dry day here, 9c after 10mm rain yesterday evening

Hoping that Sunday rain is going to be less than was first predicted for us, the forecasts are showing less and less rain as the morning and change of forecast go on.

Looks to be a colder week on the cards though.

I am finding it hard to get enthusiastic about this cold spell I just cant see where the west country could get any widespread snow event from this cold spell?

Afternoon Folks,

Been out and about this morning and only a breeze to be had.  Been back home in Bristol since 1 pm and the wind has really got its skates on.  Front page of a paper said 80 mph winds to batter Scotland?  Well how about this 1.15pm gust of 62.1 another of 70.1 at 2.15 pm and as I am typing 2.40pm "82.1".  Gusts are almost constant. Best gust so far 14.42 gust of 84.6mph Posted Image  There was no warning of these winds at all.  Wind has only been going since 1.15pm and is only getting worse.Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Very stormy here in Arborfield, a tree has come down in School road Arborfield so I had to make a detour to get home. Had torrential rain and violent gusts of wind.

Real Squally weather came through Cheltenham area about 3:30 today -. Hail , Thunder and strong winds all for about 15 minutes , trees down , Car alarms going off and property flying through the air -  fascinating to watch - horrible to be out in .

Thankfully passed through quickly and clear blue skys 30 or so minutes later but quite an event.   Weather is rarely boring even if I don't like it

Where did that come from this afternoon?

A lovely Springlike day turned into a howling gale, drizzle and a 10 minute squall which cleared to a much colder end to the afternoon!

Pretty amazing to review the radar and see how quickly the front has whizzed down the country!

And did nothing here at all, in Bournemouth it was a case of almost a passing shower, then gone.....

Wow 6 hours for snow tomorrow night for Princetown. Just some rain and sleet further down. Hoping the snow line drops to 200 metres.
