Looks like the extreme SE corner is missing the worst of it, for a change. Some squally showers but no hail or thunder so far. The sun's come out now, which has the unfortunate effect of making the dogs arrive mob-handed (mob-pawed?) and demand the walk they didn't have earlier. Trouble is, the woods are just filthily muddy, and the missus is getting most upset about constantly following them around with a mop.

Earlier rather than later might be good for walkies.....I reckon that long line of heavy precipitation just to the west of Guernsey could have your name on it.

Edit:- Not sure what's happened here....looks like England has been washed away!

Never had one of these before so it must be bad....

Very high water levels in our parks - Message from The Parks Trust

This is a message sent via Thames Valley Alert. This information has been sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Our rangers are reporting that there are very high water levels in our parks near the River Great Ouse and River Ouzel and currents are particularly strong. Both Willen Lake and Caldecotte Lake have a number of flooded paths.

Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend so if you’re planning to visit the parks please remember that some paths may be impassable. We'd like you to stay safe in the parks so please take extra care when walking near flooded areas and fast-flowing rivers and be especially vigilant if you have children or dogs with you.

...... It is normal for flooding to occur though the parks' system here in MK, the balancing lakes were designed to hold excess flood water in this way to prevent nearby homes from being flooded!

Between the storms - Eastbourne seafront at high tide, 12.15pm:Thanks to Jules and Gin for the hot choccy just as the mad rain swooped in and a lovely rainbow came out. Windspeeds were only around 25mph but that sea was bubbling up like a cauldron and the hail got in my ears!!! :lol:Eyes down for the radar now.

Stunning images, Coast. I love to watch the sea when its wild like that. I wish I could see it for myself. However. ..the Orwell looks very choppy and its very high. :D Edited by Keraunophile

Thanks Grace, it was a bit blowy up there and the roar and crash of the waves made it hard to hear your voice (yes even mine Posted Image ). Thankfully I was able to shoot from a safe distance as you would have stood no chance at the edge. I'm sure Jules will put a few up shortly.

Have had plenty of hail amongst the downpours in our part of Kent

It could be nothing but that dot of no precipitation could have been an area of vorticity. When that went straight over my town (red dot) it caused constant winds to pick to at least 50-60mph with stronger gusts for about 30-60 seconds. post-15503-0-43138000-1388759512_thumb.p

Knew the front of the shower was gusty, met says 60 mph max gust last hour. was at about 38 before hand, so it put about 20mph on to the background gusts.

Well, we have the thunder here too now. Didn't see any lightning, but 2 deep booms of thunder. Wind picking up. Curiously, it's not raining! (Yet!)
