Very much so. Its got the point now where people ask what the weather will be like and I simply say, If its blue and calm, then tomorrow will be rubbish. If its windy and raining then tomorrow will be blue and calm.

Its now simply rain, dry, rain, dry , rain, dry over here.

Well my search for cold and snow is being put on standby mode as it doesn't look like arriving anytime soon.

Quite frankly for now, I'm just hoping for a nice high pressure cell to provide the country with some relief from the rain...

Minister warns of further ‘dangerous’ floods in England

The environment secretary has warned coastal communities in the south and west of England to brace themselves for another bout of “dangerous†floods, following a meeting of the government’s emergency Cobra committee. Owen Paterson, chairing the latest in a series of emergency meetings to discuss the government’s response to the events that have cut off power and closed roads, urged the public to “keep in close touch†with the Environmental Agency as the authorities prepare for another 48 hours of torrid weather.

Mr Paterson, speaking after the meeting with the Met Office, the Environment Agency and officials from the transport, energy and communities and local government departments, told the public to be on alert. “These floods and the cost will be dangerous,†he said. “We are working very closely with local communities, power companies, transport companies and utilities companies to make sure they are well prepared for the bad weather that is coming. I would urge everyone to keep in close touch with the warnings from the Environment Agency.â€

The agency put out 44 flood warnings and a further 238 alerts on Thursday as it warned communities along the south and west coasts of England to remain on standby for possible tidal flooding between Friday and Sunday. Forecasters are predicting strong winds and heavy rain with further flooding to come. Hundreds of homes have been left without power as storms brought down power lines, while a woman died at sea in north Devon on Tuesday. Another man is feared drowned after he was swept out while celebrating the new year with friends on a beach in Cornwall.

Cobra has convened several times in recent days amid growing public anger at the government’s and energy suppliers’ handling of the storms. Tens of thousands of families who lost power to their homes in fierce weather just before Christmas had to wait days for their supply to be restored. MPs have since summoned the heads of Britain’s electricity networks to the House of Commons to be grilled over their handling of the power outages. Mr Paterson has criticised power companies for letting down their customers in recent days, saying they had been given plenty of warnings of severe weather and “were not preparedâ€. “I don’t want to see people left without power for days again,†he said.

'Exceptional weather' with rain, wind and high tides to hit UK

A period of "exceptional weather" with rain, wind and high tides is set to hit the UK, Environment Secretary Owen Paterson has said. He was speaking after chairing a meeting of the Cobra emergency committee, in which different agencies discussed the UK's response to floods. Dozens of flood warnings are in place in England, Wales and Scotland. The Environment Agency has also warned of possible tidal flooding in the south and west of England later this week. It said it expects to issue severe flood warnings - indicating a danger to life - in the coming hours, most likely for the Isles of Scilly, the north and south coasts of Devon and Cornwall, Dorset and Wales' coastline.

Mr Paterson said the coast would be dangerous. He said ministers were working to ensure all agencies were "absolutely prepared for the bad weather." Cobra, named after Cabinet Office Briefing Room A in Whitehall, brings together ministers, civil servants and others such as the police and Environment Agency - depending on the nature of the emergency it is responding to.

7 Severe flood warnings out now. Looks like this may be similar in severity to the tidal floods on December 5th?

As for the low itself, if's currently at 957mb, on track with the forecast from the GFS.

Aha, i have been beaten to it. May as well warn people more than once ;)

This article sounds rather dramatic, especially for the coasts of south-west England & Wales

Two Deaths down this way recently, in relation to people going into the Ocean

So, yes i believe warnings of 'certain death' should be issued for these types of weather situations.

There is no stopping people, if they risk their lives... but at least they were warned

SKYWARN UK SEVERE WEATHER WARNING #001
ISSUED: 1530UTC THURSDAY 2ND JANUARY 2014

SKYWARN UK HAS ISSUED A WARNING FOR SEVERE WEATHER AS FOLLOWS:

STRONG, POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS - WESTERN AND SOUTHWESTERN SCOTLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND & IOM, NORTHERN ENGLAND, WALES, SOUTHWEST ENGLAND

HEAVY RAIN LEADING TO A RISK OF LOCALISED FLOODING - WESTERN SCOTLAND, NORTHWEST & SOUTHWEST ENGLAND, SOUTHEAST ENGLAND

IN EFFECT UNTIL 0900UTC SATURDAY 5TH JANUARY 2014

DEEP LOW PASSING CLOSE TO THE NORTHWEST, GENERATING SEVERE GALES AND DAMAGING GUSTS

DISCUSSION:

THERE IS GOOD MODE AND PARTNER AGENCY CONFIDENCE IN THE LIKELIHOOD OF SEVERE WEATHER RISKS THROUGH THE PERIOD. OVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY, A SUB-950MB LOW APPROACHES IRELAND BRINGING 40-50MPH MEAN WINDS WITH GUSTS ABOVE 80MPH TO COASTAL NORTHERN IRELAND AND MUCH OF WESTERN AND SOUTHERN SCOTAND, ESPECIALLY THE WESTERN ISLES. DURING FRIDAY DAYTIME, THE UNSTABLE POST-FRONTAL ENVIRONMENT MOVES ACROSS IRELAND AND THE REST OF THE MAINLAND BRINGING MEAN WINDS OF 40MPH AND GUSTS ABOVE 70MPH THOUGH MAINLY AROUND COASTS AND HIGH GROUND. GIVEN THE TIMING OF HIGH TIDES, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF COASTAL FLOODING DURING THE WARNING PERIOD FROM OVER-TOPPING WAVES.

GENERALLY AROUND 10-25MM OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED DURING THIS PERIOD, AWAY FROM THE EAST, THOUGH SOME LOCATIONS MAY INCUR HIGHER AMOUNTS OWING TO OROGRAPHIC ENHANCEMENT. MANY AREAS COULD SEE SOME FLASH FLOODING DEPENDENT ON RIVER AND GROUNDWATER LEVELS. DURING THE EARLY HOURS OF SATURDAY, A FURTHER WAVE DEVELOPMENT IN THE WAKE OF THIS LOW MAY DELIVER SOME HEAVY CONVECTIVELY ENHANCED BURSTS OF RAINFALL TO AREAS OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND, WHICH FURTHER ENHANCES THE FLOOD RISK. THIS WARNING MAY BE UPDATED. PLEASE MONITOR WEATHER AND TRAVEL INFO AS NECESSARY.

Sunday into Monday's event is going to pack a punch alright! Another barnstormer, even for our green shores.

Much weaker than the other storms. Just a leaf rustler for us even with favoured wind direction. The way that one keeps getting remodelled I wouldn't get excited until 12 oz GFS Saturday run. Keeps coming and going too much for me.

If you live on the west coast get down to the beach at high tide because you'll likely not see it as high for a long time, it will probably be over the small Whitehaven pier something I've never witnessed and there'll be probably some more structural damage and the town centre might even flood.

Cornwall really looks like taking a battering. I know parts around Commercial Road in Penryn and possibly areas around the Princes of Wales Pier in Falmouth may particular see flooding issues.

That goes against all the important safety advice. Too many lives have been lost this way recently. Posted Image

the swell area on the map doesn't look bad for the coastal Sussex/Hampshire and places in the channel at all

but it does for Cornwall area.
