Still cranking up here Max gust 52 mph so far.

Laughing at the new reporter. Saying gusts here 80 mph standing up so definitely not 80 mph where he is.

First band arrived round here between three and four before dying down again.

What a wild night in Sunderland and it is blowing hard outside right now! This is the real deal for sure and we're just 3 hours into the amber warning period. I haven't had the chance to check radar or gusts as yet.

Edit - currently 30mph gusting 50, overnight maxima were 45mph sustained and 60mph gusts according to Weather Underground.

Well it got quite windy here again last night 45-50mph gusts I'd say but still nothing like as bad as what we had here Monday night or what you lot up north are experiencing today I'm sure, stay safe everyone! Anyone no if more storms are predicted through the nu year period?

Very gusty here, worst I've heard in a long while. Can't see any damage, but of course this is due to reach it's maximum around noon-3pm so more to come!

Can hear the tiles rattling around on the roof.

Not getting going here moderating slightly Max gust 56mph but now mid forties. Was shaking up to be a branch rattler possible tree twister but looking a possible twig shaker. Plenty of time left yet though.

43.7 mph here in Eastbourne and 8.4mm rain, so nowhere near as rough as Tuesday so far.

Winds hitting 70-80mph over Wales and N England, Exposed NW Wales have experienced gusts of 100-110mph overnight, West Cumbria @ St Bees clocked 85mph, rarely gets much worse than that in our part of the world.

Been out in it average 25 - 30 mph seems right but yet again wrong wind direction needs to be more westerly and we're just that bit far too south.

Winds picking up again here now after dying down since 3am. Recording gusts to about 50mph so nothing severe but definitely noticeable.

Pressure in Sunderland is 965mb, wind still sustained at 30mph gusting close to 50mph. Not as strong as overnight but plenty of time left in this.

Looks like the LP centre is about 944mb just off the Hebrides.
