Roof isn't rattling so it's nothing here really, just very windy, but the gusts are certainly very short and PUNCHY. Rain is the heaviest I've seen for a couple of weeks. Unusual though for the wind to be coming directly from the south, it almost always comes in from the west here.

I've gone from my normal location and spent Christmas at a mates family's house up in Newcastle and it's definitely getting a lot more windier since 10pm... backdoor flung open out my hands when I went for a fag.

I'm guessing, by the sounds of things, it's getting windier and windier outside now... can here bottles rattling, bins toppling, allsorts. :/

Wow Aberdaron 109mph, Capel Curig 90mph - both windy locations but still I believe they're the highest gusts they've seen so far over the past few weeks!

Absolutely howling here....rattling the house infact. Dread to think of the damage by morning.

That Aberdaron report must be an error surely?

I would imagine it's correct, it's a very exposed location and often sees the highest wind gusts.

Powerful jet associated with this. Could get very nasty as that squall passes through should upper level winds get anywhere near the surface.

Things markedly cranked up in volume since 9:30pm. I'm certainly glad I didn't nip off to the local for a drink tonight as no doubt i'd have been battling the gusts just to get home. 40mph is already the max since midnight here with the worst yet to come, a sleepless night methinks for many.

3 roof tiles off the house now here in North West Wales. Road into Llanrug from Caernarfon blocked by trees.

Haven't too long come off the motorway network..boy oh boy, time for a stiff drink! Wind pretty relentless after a twenty min or so relative lull..and that was still blowy? Very in fact.Surely it can't/ won't get worse? Edit lights flickered...

Yes it gets worse the next 6-10 hrs or so are the worst for the central northern belt.

Whilst not lasting as long as the previous storms this one is more potent for those areas in relation to wind gusts/speeds.

Is it just me or do squall lines seem to be getting more frequent in occurence than normal lately?

Feels eerie with the tree branches flapping and reflecting on the walls in here along with the whistling, like something from a Tim Burton movie.

With a raging jet so fast it's expected.

yep it'll be getting worse for me right up until the frontal passage around 3am (going off GFS), another lull until winds pick up from 6am to 9am in the morning and then staying pretty blowy with the occasional 60mph thrown in off the Cheshire Plain for good measure.

This has major storm written all over it for Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire etc tomorrow midday-ish. Each Euro4 model run today has increased INLAND wind gusts. I would imagine there's going to be some major damage done.

Yet the BBC forecast I just watched said a notch down on Monday's storm. 109MPH gust already would seemingly go against this notion.
