Seems to be northern areas with the greatest thundery mix, with Ireland getting it very shortly, and Wales, N England getting it after around 18z-00z

Some severe thunderstorms likely across the central part of the UK, strong gusts of wind and torrential rain, gonna be a lively few days before it calms down. :)

Can we have that in writing please...haven't heard hardly a rumble since, dare I say it, last Spring! You mean these ones won't be hugging more coastal localities? Wow...

I wish I could guarantee you some but you know what it's like with showers, I hope you do get something, they'll definitely be some corkers about!

Obviously, don't take these as gospel but it does show that there will be plenty of convective precip around those areas, definitely worth a radar watch later. Posted Image

Bit quite around my zone with the weather, thick cloud and a breeze.. calm before the storm perhaps.., things appeared to have slowed down here compared to what was expected now 2 days ago, I think the action in the west is likely to sweep east as the very strong winds set in blowing the weather features into the SE. very interesting!

Indeed, amazing how the changes are happening quite quickly here right now - some quite lively gusts starting already after a brief lull in proceedings. Rain mainly light occ mod but quite persistent, looking SW the next trouble makers are looming large!Stay safe all.

There's trouble in the SW? what trouble is it?

This organising to the SW, the main area is electrically active with some strikes being detected. Heading NE to affect SW England and Wales by the looks of things.

Very windy here now gusting over 50mph, a bit tricky moving about outside.

Atherstone, Warwickshire

Fast moving grey clouded sky, not much wind though and also no rain at present (though there was a bit of drizzle about an hour ago).

[edit] Just posted that and now can here the odd stronger gusts.

Heck it's blowing a gale! Went onto the shore with the dogs & anemometer, gusting 55-60mph with occasional gusts 60-65mph (max 65.7mph) along with mean speeds around 42-47mph.

Nice and quiet here. Light winds light rain over all a much better day than the forecast would lead you to believe. Radar shows some heavy stuff getting into the south west at the moment. Electrical activity seems to have gone according to the Netweather extra radar.

Now got gusty here and thick cloudy fast skies, but now dark which is good as any storms be well bright!

Impressive seas for sure. I'm wondering if the coast of west Wales will see these waves? We certainly did on Friday but this time it seems like Ireland shields us.

Some seriously heavy rain here now. Went to top up the electric at the petrol station and had to pull over, couldn't see. No lightning as of yet.

To be honest I am suprised about all this talk of gales and storms as theres been nothing of note here really all day.

There has been some light to moderate rain which has now finished and the winds have only gusted to 26mph.

Found this great picture on my Facebook page from the Irish Examiner newspaper

This is the photo of Lahinch, Co Clare which has gone viral today on Facebook and Twitter.A truly awe-inspiring yet frightening photo taken by George Karbus.

Meanwhile, people in South Yorks are advised to be prepared for a continuation of the current tedium, and to be on the look-out for sunny spells which may also present an additional hazard in conjunction with calm winds.

Hehe, its not any more exciting on this side of the pennines to be honest, all these storms have done nothing more than tickle the twigs on the trees and blow empty crisp packets around few inches

Possible thunder crossing here this evening (predicted)...nah, the far south is getting that again

it was just boring moderate rain

Yeah the downpours were coming in waves accompanied by pretty strong gusts..then a lull for a few hours then repeat. Didn't see or hear lightning/thunder and i'm 8 miles from Penzance. In a lull now very warm slight breeze, last heavy rain an hour ago...thing is i hope we don't get much more. So nothing out of the ordinary here.
