We talking eqivillant to last monday`s storm in the s.e?

At the moment I would say no, but the state of things in our little corner it doesn't need to be as bad to cause problems.

I know and their is no soak up at all, and all the water heading into the big Thames rivers.... slowly rising due to width and depth of it, it takes along time to go down after too

CalMac's MV Hebrides undertook three unscheduled, additional trips this week ... on Christmas Day. To assist (perhaps, rescue) would-be passengers delayed by bad weather, it sailed on Wednesday morning from Lochmaddy (North Uist) to Uig (Skye), back to Lochmaddy and on to Tarbert (Harris). There is an irony that not a train, on the tube or overground, nor a bus moved in London, with some ten million people around, at that time. :)

Well my ferry crossing has been cancelled overnight to Ireland from Fishguard. Having to get one 12 hours later from Holyhead. Good thing really as I don't fancy the Irish sea on that forecast!

The NMM is showing some pretty windy conditions but nothing compared to what we've suffered of late.

There's definitely potential for some disruption, obviously in the areas under a warning, saturated soil and weakened trees that have survived the recent onslaughts being one of the factors..

Snapshots of the precip rate, looking pretty wet across parts of Wales & south west, the usual  topographic areas could see 40 to 50mm falling .. Dartmoor/Exmoor etc.. 10 to 20mm in many areas but it also looks varied, so some may only see 5mm, all in all, it is certainly not needed in areas already affected by recent flooding.

Wind and rain warnings updated

Issued at: 1046 on Sun 29 Dec 2013

Valid from: 0005 on Mon 30 Dec 2013

Valid to: 1300 on Mon 30 Dec 2013

South to southwesterly gales and locally severe gales will affect western and southern parts of Wales and parts of southwest England during the early hours of Monday, moving east to affect English Channel coastal counties through Monday morning, whilst winds ease from the west later. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel, particularly as the gales will be combined by heavy rain in some areas (see separate Warning). This is an update to the Alert issued on Saturday.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

An active frontal system will move eastwards across the UK during Sunday night and Monday. Very strong south to southwesterly winds will develop, with gusts of 60-70 mph likely within the area of the Warning, particularly near coasts and over high ground with a low probability of a short period where gusts could reach 80 mph at exposed locations in the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall and western parts of Wales.

Issued at: 1101 on Sun 29 Dec 2013

Valid from: 0005 on Mon 30 Dec 2013

Valid to: 1200 on Mon 30 Dec 2013

Further rain is expected later on Sunday, becoming heavy overnight and on Monday morning. Rainfall accumulations of 20 to 30 mm are expected widely, with 50-60 mm over high ground. The rain will fall on already saturated ground, so the public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding. This is an update to the Alert issued on Saturday.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

An active frontal system will move eastwards across Scotland during Sunday night and Monday morning, bringing a spell of heavy rain to southwestern and central areas. The largest rainfall totals will be over upland areas exposed to the strong south to southwesterly winds, notably Dumfries and Galloway.

Definitely km/h and not knots, otherwise western coasts would be seeing 115mph gusts.
