Starting to wonder if something wintry might fall out of the sky later tonight, temps have dipped to freezing and the upper atmosphere is -2C.

Seems to be petering out as it moves north though.

Temperature fell to 0.8c here an hour ago and now it's pouring down with rain. Hope you all had a good day. Posted ImagePosted Image

Already well below zero here at -1.6.  Cold and frosty, stars look wonderful, both Jupiter and Sirius look fantastic tonight, mind you Orion isn't too shabby either and a glistening Milky Way.

Brilliant (but V cold)

Interesting evening, heavy frost was setting in, water lobs on car were frozen solid yet within an hour all were pretty much melted as the warmer air pushed in from the south.

John, in terms of Friday's depression, how is it looking now? What impact do you think it'll have on flights out of Heathrow?

hi exodus

at present 40-50 mph winds should not really effect them too much

although i assume it will come down to direction of wind and whether it effects

landing and taking off

very heavy rain is the tricky bit as not sure whether this will effect them

might be worth waiting until tomorrow to see whether they warn of any delays

hopefully link above will help

Fantastic weather today. If we can't have snow, then lets have a glorious sunny day.

Yuck!  I checked the weather this morning before heading out to family festivities...mild and dry enough to leave the horses out....now absolutely hammering down with icy rain....luckily home in time to get them in...One of them is an old lady of over 30 and must not get too cold and chilled....ah well, that's weather for you!

Just seen BBC weather did not make pleasant viewing and just learnt that the section of A27 I was on earlier this evening was closed due to multiple accidents due to road rapidly freezing. What on earth is going on with the weather. If anyone has any travelling to do over next few days please keep up to date with current forecasts. I purposely left Portsmouth early because I was worried about any further rain coming in and seems I narrowly missed some pretty bad weather.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
