Oh dear........we've suffered our first casualty. The jam jar we stick our tabs in went for a burton and smashed. It was holding down the cat litter tray. :O

Still very, very windy but nowt out of the ordinary yet. I hope the power doesn't go later on. I am 'sitting' the nipper while her mum goes out. Oh well.

Windy here but not much to write about, a few specks of rain, so I will carry on decorating my last candles

Even my cat who loves sitting it bogs is sleeping in here, so something is a brewing outside Posted Image

Friends and colleagues who commute to London are saying they are coming home early. One, who works at the Home Office was advised to go now before things worsen.

I'm starting to feel the house shake and that loud buffeting that comes with a major storm. It reminds me a little of 1987. I hope (and think) it won't be anything like as bad, but I can't see there not being some structural damage - cross fingers it's nothing more.

Really hoping the power doesn't go off here. Being in such a rural location, when it does go off it can be off for days......8 days last time!

Anyone ever tried doing a whole Christmas dinner on a camping stove? Posted Image Posted Image

Hi all .. off  to the the Arsenal vs Chelsea game this evening …I think it may well be called off ?

I'd check the roads and transport systems first, you may get there and find you can't get back?

I reckon it will be suspended. I don't think they'd let people travel just in case.

5.00pm onwards, worst time near midnight. Expect 60mph to 70 mph later and check the live travel first:

If you can go now, I would.

What time is Christmas dinner then Coast? Shall I bring the wine?

Depends on how long a full size Norfolk Bronze Turkey takes on a BBQ?  Please don't bring wine, I have an off-licence garage that I can only just shut the door on  Posted Image

Really c**p drive from Sandbanks to Surbiton in busy traffic. Rain arrived at 10 just as we were leaving and stayed with us more or less the whole journey; gusts were initially strongest in the south coast region, then lulled for a bit when we got inland (it all being relative might I add, v windy nonetheless) then really picked up again once we got north of Guildford. Huge puddles of water over most of the roads; got held for 10 minutes while they cleared debris at one point. Some loud, tree-rattling gusts buffeting outside right now with squally rain accompaniment, glad we are home although I have to go out at 6 for medical treatment; husbands shoulders hurting after 2 hours plus hunched in the car concentrating on it all.

Will definitely have to final postpone pre-Christmas shop 'til tomorrow.

Stay safe everyone.

40 more minutes and I am leaving work early.  I keep checking the southeastern trains website and national rail, and so far so good...

The wind has really started to pick up now though, and am not looking forward to trying to keep my brolly up on my walk to London Waterloo East station!
