Worst affected counties tonight will be 1 Kent Sussex Hampshire Middlesex London <5> EssexIn the above counties, expect significant disruption due to uprooting trees, damage to buildings, power loss and the affect that this will have on local transport.

Hi Surrey - just wondering how the counties around us and London are worse effected but not Surrey itself?! Or are we classed as London area?Stay safe!x

Seems like during this brief lull, LGW are getting the landings in ASAP and all departing traffic is holding on the taxiways.

i've been watching that aswell......thought he was meant to land at Gatwick?

All flights have an alternate if they cannot land at their destination. As he had been around a few times he was probably getting low on fuel and therefore couldn't risk another go around, so he or she went to the alternate.

Dry and just breezy at the moment here, definitely the calm before the 2nd and worse wave. The Metoffice had inland gusts of 75mph with even high gusts around the coasts for the next one during the early hours.

Evening all

Been out shopping and not done very well, some last minute items I need and out of a list of nearly 20 managed just 3 and that was after just under 4 hours of trying, looks like apart from the essentials now the rest will have to be passed over as shops either have no stock or are still waiting for re-supply and the current weather conditions are not helping that.

Been a blowy wet afternoon/evening here, forecast is for the rain to ease (which it seems to be doing) and the wind to get worse (which it has yet to do).

Stay safe all.

May be still windy in Kent but so far everything is going as planned..

Winds falling much lighter over the region and actually lighter over Kent..

But this is only till about 9PM tonight when the winds really ramp up!

peaking at around 11-12 tonight and lasting till they begin to fall lighter around 3am

Currently going by what I have read..

Coast: 70-80mph MAYBE a isolated 85mph

Inland: 65-75mph 80mph maybe possible

This is all thanks to this..

Isobars really getting tight!

Wind getting even louder now. Absolutely wild weather.

Strange as its gone quiet here, what's going on thought this thing was supposed to be getting stronger this evening not abating?...
