Yikes. .. conservatory roof emergency repairs done. Had to just bash in a few nails and brace it down. Panels were starting to lift. Velux window has lost its seal and rain is pouring into my bedroom, awning blown off over my front door. Fence down and roof tiles flying off. Merry Blinking Christmas to me. Blah

omg that sounds bad.hope you are ok.

wind is getting up again here its kind of swooshing over the roof, hope the tiles stay on.

Waiting for that bad noise when the wind gets so bad you can hear noises and creaking noises bit like for half a hour in St Judes storm, the one on Friday is going to be as bad another day of Chaos,

Are we being protected by something here in Strood? Apart from a few noticeable gusts, it doesn't seem to be as bad as it sounds elsewhere.

Hi there SE gang,

Just had two power surges at home. Power is still on so bravo to the electric board whoever they are now for keeping power afloat. Got preparedness supplies to hand to be on the safe side.

The storm is going to peak in the SE just after midnight with 80 mph wind gusts Posted Image

Be safe everyone.

Very gusty winds and rain here, definitely getting stronger in the last hour or so. Maybe the crosswinds have become too much for the planes now? Wouldn't be surprised (only a few miles from LGW)

18z GFS peaking gusts around midnight, before easing 3am onwards. Gusts 80mph along south coast - perhaps more.

Rather oddly, my Weather Pro app has suddenly dropped the expected gusts in the early hours from mid sixties down to mid fifties for my location. I hope they're right but this is the same app that gave me a blizzard warning in August, so I will take it with a pinch of salt!

I'd ignore that. Met Office Forecast from 21:00, nearly as bad as it's been. Wind has really picked up here again in last half hour.

Bottle of wine, music on the headphones, darts on TV. Suddenly all is well in the world. Could be doing anything outside.

Unapologetic aviation geek/wannabe pilot, sir.

Maybe I should take you flying, you can sit in the right hand seat and I can show you how to fly :)

Yes, to be honest, the Meteogroup gusts predictions have been all over the place; they had them no more than 55 for ages then upped them to mid sixties earlier then back down to 55 again!I'm inclined to think we will get some mid sixties gusts, maybe touching 70mph. I think St Jude was just over 70 at its worst, so pretty similar really. Edited by Chalk Serpent

Anyone on here from the Bexley area? Gusts appear to be more frequent now.
