We appear to be in the "calm before the store" here too now, suddenly eased off but expecting more very soon.

I think we are a bit more sheltered than you, Tinybill. We're right behind The Big Box building with rows of houses on either side. That's probably why it seems much quieter now. Oh well.......wait until later. :O

Just spent 3 hours doing a 20 mile round trip Posted Image

It is absolutely atrocious out there at the moment! Rain so heavy it's like fog and the wind is sending it sideways. Just passed the 40mm mark for rainfall too, with plenty more on the way? Must have some flooding going to happen overnight.

Are you sure? Most of Essex (going by radar information) looks to have had around the 10mm mark. Unless you were refering to the West Country ofcourse, in which case my apologies. They have certainly had it rough down there today!

Blowing at an almost constant 45mph here.

Steady and ever so slowly the gusts are getting back up toward 55 mph every 30 seconds or so...

Seems like we are in a bit of a lull at the moment; still windy though.

Really not looking forward to the small hours though. Desperately need a good night's sleep; can anyone get me a dose of general anaesthetic that lasts about 8 hours? :)

Just had to go and pick OH up from Ebbsfleet as the trains were stopping there.

It is VERY dangerous on the roads, sheet rain, crazy spray and big puddles. Lots of aquaplaning and bad braking.

Please do not go out in it unless you have to. I don't think I have ever been so alert driving in my life.

Bear in mind this was during the CALMER part of the storm.

So quiet out there now other then the rain, I'm getting nervous about what might arrive later.

Same here, probably quietest of the day but despite that the power just went out for around 5 mins. Am hoping early morning doesn't tip it over the edge.
