Winds have really picked up again here in South Somerset - really howling and torrential rain. Just seen that 2 people have died today, so pretty nasty stuff out there - although we are weather fanatics; sobering thought that some families will never forget this event for the wrong reasons.

Very good consensus for further exceptional weather, something akin to the boxing day 1998 storm with gusts into the 90's, perhaps?

latest radar grab showing LEWP stretching up from the Severn Estuary up to Birmingham and a second line segment from Exeter into somerset and south Wilts.....expect torrential rain and violent wind gusts (and possible tornadic activity) from these features especially towards the southern ends of these segments

Same here in SE Wales, winds have really picked up again.

Just following the flightradar app. Last 5 approaches into Gatwick all gone around. One flight diverted the other 4 trying again. Thankfully I'm not on board one of the planes it must be scary stuff.

lokks like EZY82RP is going in for an attempt

That LEWP desperately trying to sort itself out in the midlands region, not much definitive this way towards Manchester but may still bring down some convective gusts to the surface.

Just in a hold - strange squawk though - 4444

Freight flight Coventry to Exeter, didn't managed to land at Exeter so diverting to Stansted. Gatwick have only had 2 aircraft manage to land out of the last 9. Latest forecast for Gatwick is up to 55kts until around 4am. Certainly the strongest gusts in these parts that I can remember for a while.

Really is quiet out there, was expecting howling winds, even this far inland!

Been bad here since this afternoon but things have just gone up another gear now. House rattling and hearing cranks and creaks with every gust. Conservatory flooded fence panels broken.

Took a drive earlier and saw that the garage roof at texaco had been ripped a new whole and lots of big building boarding panels snapped and thrown about in the road along with an army of darlicks (bins)
