Almost no rolling news coverage either, given the fact most outlets are now on festive outage. All the reports finished late last night, while the worst seems to be happening right now.

As a result I think most people are severely under estimating what's going on.

Have never heard gusts like this. Although I was very young at that time, they sound and feel like 87. Obviously, probably not sustained like that.

I do have a feeling we are in the middle of a big one.

Its relentless here, hopefully it will calm down soon, but there are some beefy gusts still, and quite a bit more rain to come, i have never witnessed such horrendous conditions on the IOW before, and The Islands Roads have done an amazing job in keeping the Island on the go, my hat goes of to you guys, good job  Posted Image

move the timeline thing at the top by yourself and look at the end looks like the storm is developing a little mini eye west of scotland

It has been an memorable night here, depending on how you look at it?

It has been many years since I've seen weather like this here! Lots of damage, water damage to the house I'm in unfortunately. Stay safe folks.

Exceptional bar change in the last 24hrs. Posted Image

I saw that too looks like something out of a day after tomorrow. Very severe here barometer still consistently dropping at 968mb. Was going to drive to North Yorkshire and back at 6pm tonight glad I didn't in the end!

It should calm down soon. It's gone very quiet here in north Hants, until the next wave hits us.

I would say it's more similar in strength to the great Burns Day storm 1990, and for damage. but in terms of weather conditions in general more near to the 87 Great storm for the floods this is producing, and as 1990 was sunny skies it's rather different to Mondays conditions(cloud/rain) 87 winds were gusting up to 115 mph inland(maybe more in places that had no recording device) perhaps tornado's caused swaths of flattened trees along with the violent gusts of the storm. With this storm I'd say that some surprises with the damage in daylight, I feel this is widespread, and very much a storm for the record books.

okay right for me, the worse ive ever seen in terms of weather conditions with the wind and rain mix, more so of the wind! truly scary but exciting experince, but really feel for those on the roads and the places that have had trouble with this!

I said something was going on.. has there been a top secret meeting on this.. would they tell us if sudden climate change has occurred in 7 days? simply put we should be worried if this pattern continues...........

OK hope to put some info on later about the potential for more extreme weather in the north as this storm develops into round 2

A look ahead and as "PerfectStorm" suggests currently looking dangerous for next week, well lets not get to far ahead because after the storm affecting over the next 24hrs we also have Fridays storm to track..
