Of course another headache for the airline crews is the pilots having to always manually change the barometric reading on the altimeters as now it would be changing by the hour from output FAX to arrival, even the during short European hops going on tonight.

This one doesn't seem to be having much success landing either. Besides that, how many squall lines are forming across the South West & Wales ? ~ At least 2 may'be 3 ?http://www.flightradar24.com/EIN386

Yup looks like they'll be a few more this evening in the same situation, looks like he's decided to stack

[*]

2252:

Brittany Ferries says it has cancelled two crossings tonight - Plymouth to Roscoff and Portsmouth to Caen. A spokesman said an earlier Portsmouth to Bilbao crossing had tried to enter Brest but the waters were too rough. It is now anchored, "riding out the storm in Finistere". In case you missed it, hear this account of those passengers' ordeal.

[*]

2251:

Robin Gisby of Network Rail: "Early tomorrow morning, as long as there has been no additional damage, we will need to check the lines are safe and get a number of trains, which were not able to run today, in the right place, so I'd ask anyone travelling to bear with us as we work to get the system up and running."

May I recommend single engine propeller flying in slightly windy weather, it prepares one for jet landings in storms, I can vouch...

Try it on a Dash 8 q400. I got off that plane and actually thanked god i was alive

pressure currently 969.9 at malvern wells weather station, wind coming from southwest direction, gusting at approx 30mph and it's hammering it down with rain again

Just following the flightradar app. Last 5 approaches into Gatwick all gone around. One flight diverted the other 4 trying again. Thankfully I'm not on board one of the planes it must be scary stuff.
