Storm in a teacup up here, it was much worse three weeks ago, but it did not hit the south so was not worth reporting on... Check out the link

#ukstorm now trending on twitter. Saw a Tweet that referred to an air hostess mentioning on facebook - roughest landing of her entire career and never seen so many sick bags.

Aircraft looking pretty stacked over Heathrow and Gatwick..

Just had a wee peek and looks like BAW781C from Stockholm to Heathrow has opted for a go around, up to FL80 now.

current heathrow metar: EGLL 232150Z 20025G38KT 9000 RA BKN016 BKN020 12/10 Q0981

terminal forecast (probabilty 30%) going for gusts of 53 knots from the S/SW. I wouldn't want to be landing an aircraft in that!

Well spotted, surreal looking path that flight has taken?!!!

Here's a pic of a tree outside my work on the A22 in East Grinstead. Normally this road is stacked up in both directions at the time that this tree came down completely blocking the road around 6pm. I feel that there has been a lucky escape here.

(sorry about the quality but it was blowing hard and absolutely chucking it down.)

Our airport is to the south of the city in an elevated position, basically on top of a hill (edge of Mendips almost) and exposed to any major storm coming up from the South or in from the West.

Yeah looks like he went for missed approach at heathrow then opted for a landing elsewhere instead of being stacked for another 20 mins +

14,000 feet now heading NW'ish so i'd presume a Birmingham divert considering he's a heavy (767)

Wind really getting up again now along with the rain. Got a good few hours of this to last yet too. That squall line looking interesting as well.

May I recommend single engine propeller flying in slightly windy weather, it prepares one for jet landings in storms, I can vouch...

Just got back from the cinema, nasty drive home it's pouring down with flooding on many roads, wind picking up after a brief respite.

The wind has been steadily increasing for the past 45 mins, with some really hefty gusts beginning to throw things around outside, plus sirens going constantly in all directions. Considering this is still not the peak, I would hate to think how bad things would be in exposed places, so yet again peeps, TAKE CARE!!

By the way, what is the lowest pressure recorded over the British mainland? Surely this low is going to be close to the record?

(EDIT: Managed to find an answer to my own question..."The lowest authenticated air pressure in the British Isles is 925.6 hPa/mbar, recorded at 2145h on 26 January 1884 at Ochtertyre, near Crieff (Scotland)" according to the Stornoway Gazette, (in case anyone was wondering)!
