Is that KPH?

I hope it is.

Says so at the bottom, that being said I wasn't aware that the Beaufort Scale went above Force 12.

I'm in Newark, Notts & have been a lurker here for a year or so, ie. when the news reports some snow or when it's predicted to get a bit breezy.I do like (if that is the correct word) a good gust / spell of unusual weather, but obviously not if it causes injury / danger to others. I have a 60ft+ pine tree and a 40ft (200 year old Oak in my garden) so would be gutted if either of those came down - especially if they landed on my house !!I have no equipment other that a £30 Origin thingy. Current in Newark is : Heavy rain on / offNo idea of gust speeds (don't have such equipment ... yet) - But some stong ones every 30 secs or so984mb at 2.00pm, now down to 980mbDave
Welcome to Netweather Dave, you certainly picked a bonkers day to come over to the 'bright' side!

Incredible rainfall for the last 20 minutes,at the upper end of the squall line just east of rugby. Wind wasn't massively violent , but that might be because I have moored in the lee of the West Coast Mainline embankment.

12z moving the Friday storm North again. Time for change but seemingly likely this one will be reserved mostly for the North again.

Wind only 30mph here in hertfordshire far from what been predicted so far.

It is a lot higher in my part of Hertfordshire I can assure you.  49 mph gusts recorded for St Albans.  Looking at the trees surrounding me I don't want to think what tonight's gusts will do.

GFS 12z has things looking a bit more tightly packed than the NASA so possibly getting over 80mph gusts in the southeast but more generally 60-70mph widely

post-18233-0-60136800-1387814407_thumb.p

then again the focus of the strongest gusts we will see from this storm moves to northern parts of Ireland where again it looks like some 100mph gust or over could be possible

post-18233-0-45637000-1387814423_thumb.p

then we move to northern England and Scotland where winds will pick up with some really strong looking winds set to funnel through the central belt with gusts possibly getting close to 100mph in some places more especially towards the northwest where gusts in excess of 100mph could be possible

a pretty windy period for us all with damage possible but more so in the places which will see the higher gusts these being

SOUTH EAST ENGLAND

NORTHERN IRELAND

SCOTTISH SOUTHERN UPLANDS

SCOTTISH CENTRAL BELT

NORTHWEST SCOTLAND AND NORTHERN ISLES

Things quieting down outside here, expecting somewhat of a lull until the gradient tightens as the low's center crosses north, back to a few hours of sustained winds again before eventually dying back down tomorrow afternoon.

The rain and the wind is clearing away here.

Some random foreign man from Russia called Mikhail Kalashnikov has died. I hope that doesn't interrupt our storm media coverage this time. Apparenlty he is a inventer of the soviet assualt rifle that was widely used by the Russians during the cold war.

Not much in it but UKMO is showing an even tighter pressure gradient than the GFS...

GFS 12z then has round two coming in for the 28th with the south mostly looking to miss out on the highest of the winds with these reserved for Scotland Ireland and northern england again with gusts equalling what we see with this storm and possibly even a little stronger with tightly packed isobars
