Quite surprised by just how strong the wind is here (North Yorkshire). Was expecting it to be gusty but this feels windier than what we've had over the last few weeks.

Ahh, got beaten to it

Check Met Office website, more updated warnings

Amber wind now for Northern Ireland - and snow showers expected there as well

Also, yellow wind warning now gone up for ALL of the Uk, for Friday (the next storm)

Yes, must be a Manic Monday in the Met Office

Not really a surprise given what the models have been showing for some days now:

Reports of roads flooded near Ottery St Mary

I wonder if that's the road up East Hill being like a river like sometimes happens.

Local stream high here, and river Otter quite high and rising fast. Rain just getting heavy again looks like the river will flood tonight unless there's less rain than forecast.

Highest gust recorded so far is 48mph, the same as Wednesday evening, though we are in a valley and my anemometer does sometimes get slightly sheltered from the S and SSW due to the house next door.

Early wind warning out for Friday currently it covers every part of the UK

Issued at: 1329 on Mon 23 Dec 2013

Valid from: 0005 on Fri 27 Dec 2013

Valid to: 2359 on Fri 27 Dec 2013

Another spell of stormy weather is expected to affect many areas, winds increasing later on Boxing Day but likely to peak during Friday. Gusts of 70-80 mph are possible especially in exposed parts of the west and south. Spells of heavy rain can also be expected, including areas that remain saturated from rainfall earlier in the week. The public should be aware of the potential for disruption, especially where the high winds are combined with heavy rainfall. Please watch for updates to this warning over the coming days, especially those who have travel plans.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

Another exceptionally deep area of low pressure is expected to develop over the eastern Atlantic later on Thursday and track northeastwards close to western Britain through Friday. Associated strengthening winds are expected to increase to gale force in many areas and severe gale at times especially over exposed coasts and hills. Bands of heavy rain are also expected to affect many areas but particularly in the south and west, where a further 30 to 50 mm may fall. At this stage there is still some uncertainty over the detail and this warning will be updated in the coming days.

Chezzie

Depends if you're sheltered from the south? I bet Dronfield bypass is fun.

Yep rather sheltered here, just an average windy day it seems.

Road from the Hare & Hounds down to Ottery, not sure what it's called. The roads around Sidbury are all flooded and Honiton High Street shut due to slates coming off roofs
