What I can't get my head over is over the past 72 hours all we have seen in regards to the South east anyway is upgrade after upgrade after upgrade in terms of wind speed ETC... Never known anything like it usually we get to about 48-24 hours out and see downgrades..

BBC really ramping up the winds across SE England between 1900 and 0300. 70MPH INLAND gusts now predicted with 80mph on coasts.Several hours of this makes it more damaging than ST Jude

Better hope Friday's storm doesn't upgrade as well - already looks bad!

I agree their now predicting 60-70mph inland with 80mph on coasts in reality somewhere inland getting 75-80mph can't be ruled out and 90mph+ on the coast.

BREAKING NEWS The QEII Bridge at Dartford in Kent will close shortly after midday as a result of the weather warning, Essex Police say.

The bridge is expected to remain closed for 16 hours, reopening at about 04:00 BST tomorrow.

As people continue to post up various reports of today's activity to which we are all most grateful, please let us not forget that this weather is coming at the worst possible time for some being Easter and all that, it is Easter isn't it   With that in mind, let's try and keep things nicely balanced in here and leave any over-hype to the papers and certain other media circles. Some folk will need to hear what we have to say. Rain only begun about half an hour ago here and the wind is picking up somewhat already. The South and Southeast gets the full impact of this storm as the day wears on into the overnight period as suggested by others. Tomorrow is more the turn of the North. Either way, this storm is not to be messed with.

WOW yes-that's further north than M6-pressure has shot down on that buoy-now lower than M6 has been all morning-maybe its deepening as the centre moves North

Met office has updated warnings to cover us in skeggy for wind now it's getting gusty out there at the minute

Everyone who is reporting the incredible drops in pressure are forgetting about something, when you talk about a storm dropping 24mb in 24 hours they are talking about the centre of the low.

Everyone is measuring the pressure dropping from there stationary point which of course will drop faster because not only is the storm deepening but the lows centre is also moving closer so you will always get a much increased drop in pressure on top of a already bombing low.
