I'm also going for 4 degrees. A mild start and generally an unsettled month but trending colder as the month wears on - with heights to the NE building strongly as we move through the middle of the month sending ever weakening low pressure systems to stall out to the west and be forced into central europe.

I can see winter 13/14 being one of two contrasting halves - echos of winter 00/01 bar the cold christmas period...

more of the same for the first 10 days but then I think a change to a much colder 2nd half.

3.5 for me.

Pretty much the same again for the 1st half of the month.  Generally wet with average to mild temperatures, although hopefully not as wet and windy as of late.  Hopefully a change through the second half of the month to something colder, drier and more wintry!  I will go for 4.3C please.....  I have not seen a flake of snow so far and I'm not up for a late 90's Winter!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
