The coldest night of the winter so far with a very modest -1.0c minimum.

It's also the first morning in many weeks where the trek to the moor to take the readings hasn't required wellingtons.

Yes TM it's nice the ground has firmed up today, it's been an absolute sh$t hole round here for weeks, going to make the most of it today.

Let's hope the 2nd half of winter delivers, i certainly have not given up by a long way yet, reading the MOD this morning is enough to make anyone suicidal.

Well, i wasn't expecting last nights temps to be that low, I had a low of -3.8c and even now the cars and grass around here are still covered in thick frost.

And i suspect that today won't warm up to quickly either.....Cool Posted Image

Bah to think a few days ago this was going to be the transition day into colder easterlies :(, still looks like a week of mudane blandness followed by the dreaded Azores high next week.

Managed a low of -2.9c in the end with best frost of the season to date, currently 3.9c and thick fog after a bright start.

Yes Will, "maybe" something wintry tonight on the leading edge as the front moves through, something of interest at least.

According to that first half of february looks high pressure dominated and cold

Thats why 'goodish' was said, HP with not much of the white stuff Posted Image

Metcheck use data from the CFS for there monthly forecast, So looking at this chart below you would think you would see more snow, Especially for the south of the UK,

But then again this a 12z run, Metcheck maybe showing in there forecast data from an earlier run,

But who cares, Forget the finer details this is just a trend, Feb looks promising Posted ImagePosted Image

The best they can expect is sleet and only if the precipitation is heavy enough, Even at 300m the Dew points are to high tonight.

C'mon own up...who cancelled the undercutting easterly? Posted Image

Soggy, raw feeling and far from pleasant out - throwing it down at the Stoke game too, currently looking like a rugby score!

It was me.

Stoke fans deserve to get wet.

Was too mild up here, 7oC, just rain. Hours of heavy fog before that set in, too. This morning looks brighter, however, got some clear sky! Hope it lasts for awhile, not keen on dull grey skies and mud.

No sleet or snow here last night either . By the time the drizzle had become proper rain the surface temperature was around 3.5c and the  warmer uppers were well in place.

Some unusually dense fog early yesterday evening with the visibility around 25 mts at times. The fog cleared shortly before midnight and during the early hours the cloud dispersed to leave a cool and clear start to the morning.
